HELLO IM SORRY FOR BEING SILENT FOR A MONTH I SWEAR IM ALIVE AND STILL MAKE ART im going through a bad motivation and idea spell and I can't draw anything rn since im going out of state without my laptop but i PROMISE I'll make content soon
bylarae is probably my favorite antagonist and I genuinely don't make enough content of her. all of my other antags' ideals are all under the false guise of righteousness with their own different complex motives and bylarae's just a freak for no reason
guess who’s in another town, left their pen charger, and now their tablet pen’s dead and can’t draw for the rest of the weekend!! (unless there’s a slight chance i can find one in like. walmart)
before i actually go into more detail about the general plot later on, I wanted to explain a few world building things about this story! i’ll probably be posting things like this more often!!
So, as stated by the title of this, the Gods have a specific Hierarchy. There are two main roles for each god, Minor and Apex. The god of mortality also has his own special role, considering he’s pretty much the most important god of the Haven.
The Big Boss
This one is a bit more of explaining the guy himself rather than the role.
Ias is the god of mortality. He is the first and the oldest god out of the Haven, and is pretty much the one who created the universe in its entirety. Despite his importance, almost no one knows what he truly is like, Khulotl being the only god that’s currently still a god who knows what his true form looks like. He basically hides in this infinitely-large black room, tending to his duties. Since no one really knows what he looks like, a lot of people tend to imagine him as some sort of graceful being, however, this is his actual appearance:
Yea, it’s pretty messed up!
The main thing about Ias is that he doesn’t have a “solid” vessel. It’s essentially just an extendable pile of black-and-white goo with a bunch of wings. He also has the power to either bring things to life or to kill things with a simple touch, but that’s another story for another day!
Since he’s the god of life and death AND the god who created the universe, he’s widely known as the most important god. He basically runs the shots, and is also the one who banishes people from the Haven!
Apex Gods
Apex gods are Ias’s “descendants.” They are also some of the oldest and most important gods, but they’re pretty much just a peg below Ias. These guys are some of the gods that helped actually shape the universe. The main way to tell if a god is an apex god are is their wings! They can pretty much come in all shapes and sizes, but the typical feathered ones are the most common in the rank. You can also tell by their height, as most of them are extremely tall.
Due to their high importance, they’re also not typically seen around the Haven (apex gods reside in a specific level in the Haven, but that’ll be explained when i actually get to explaing the Haven’s layout), considering the workload. A lot of them are usually serious and cold, focusing on their job more than the others around them.
Also because they’re so important, it’s really, REALLY rare for an Apex god to get into serious trouble, not to mention banished. The only Apex god that has gotten punished so far was actually demoted into a minor god (he’ll play a big part in chapter 2, im planning to make around 3-4 chapters), so it’s pretty easy for these guys to cause some serious damage and get away with it scot-free.
Quick note too: since these guys are Ias’s kids, all apex gods are siblings. If I catch any of y’all shipping two apex gods together, I will not hesitate to give you a military discount for the hands you’ll catch.
Minor Gods
This is the category that the rest of the gods fall into! While of course they’re necessary for humans, that’s. really all they’re needed for. While Apex gods focus on the universe in its entirety, minor gods focus on Earth and the mortals on it.
There’s pretty much a god for anything that isn’t already an apex god. If it exists on Earth, there’s probably a god for it. Due to the sheer numbers of gods, the minor gods get the largest part of the Haven.
Since these gods are the ones who tend to Earth the most, they’re pretty much allowed to go where ever they want to on Earth. While it’s not common for them to actually go down there, considering they’re put on strict guidelines once they do go there, it’s not necessarily uncommon either. A lot of gods are usually summoned there instead of going there on their own free will, but there are some gods who enjoy to have fun on Earth with what little free time they have.
This also means, however, that this is the role where a lot of gods get banished. If a god is deemed unfit for their role, the god is stripped of their powers and sent down to live the rest of their lives on Earth. The placement is randomized, so they could end up in either Germany or some secluded island. After a god is exiled, a replacement is made to fill in that role. Some roles are even infamous for the amount of exiles under that name, which can give a new god with that role a very bad name.
I most likely will edit this later to add more information, but here y’all go for now!
