Suits weren’t the usual Epsilon fare.  Sure, Blade often pulled out his sleek black suit with the shimmering gray combination vest and tie when sporting an alias at a high fashion gala, but seeing Sheath dressed to the nines in his dark gray pinstriped suit was abnormal.  Even so, the fact that the two Teammates were following individuals from their organization--individuals with power who made decisions instead of following orders--towards the residence of the mafia family they were to do business with.

Sheath couldn’t help but glance over to his partner every few moments to gauge his response.  They’d been debriefed in the drive from the airfield, and while Sheath had been nodding, following the track of the conversation with a professional ear, he’d noticed that his younger partner’s shoulders had wilted.

Usually the blond had such spunk and spice to his personality and gait that it was hard to recognize he was the same man, and all that rested on the target of these talks.  From what they’d learned, the Company was here to procure an asset.  If the conversation were to go south, Sheath and Blade were to take their prize back to HQ, leaving the rest of the Company’s Teams to decimate not only the home of the family but all those in residence as well.

It wasn’t an abnormal job nor an abnormal request.  Recruitment of these assets was rarely pretty.  No one knew this more than those who’d already been collected, trained, and used as nothing more than property--chess pieces in their violent games.

Even among that number, there were few who became pawns at such a tender age.  Until now, Blade himself had held the title of the youngest recruit, joining the organization at a mere twelve years of age when he was found walking the streets of Detroit with blood soaked skin and clothes, eyes like muddied water.  Inside, Blade felt like his claim to fame was being threatened, someone younger being coveted by those who had once praised him for his work, but a stronger, sadder emotion made his steps feel heavy as he walked forward.

No child should know the smell, feel, and taste of another human’s blood, especially someone younger than he had been his first kill, and definitely not an eight year old girl.

I heard of them but never really payed complete attention to them. Very pretty girls with amazing voices and a distinct sense of smile. What's one of your favorite songs by them? I like Candy Smile. The outfits were to die for.
