They bumped into each other.
Literally.
He wasn’t looking where he was going, just trying to focus on not collapsing in the street before he could make it back to the TARDIS, and she was coming out of a shop.
This was almost the end.
He could feel it.
He felt it when he saw Rose but he couldn’t let go.
Not yet.
He had one more stop.
He wanted to be near where she lived.
He just wanted to be near her.
One last time.
He didn’t want to wipe her memory but he had to.
It wasn’t like it was with Donna but he knew that one day she would die because of him and he didn’t want that.
He couldn’t bear the thought.
It had to be done so she could live and she never would have left of her own accord. She would never leave him willingly so what other choice did he have?
Especially after trying to change time and becoming The Time Lord Victorious. Look how that turned out.
Adelaide Brooke still died only it was his fault instead of it being an accident.
“Oh shit! Sorry! I should have been looking where I was going!” A voice said.
“No, it’s m-” He knew that voice. His luck really was great(!)
He must’ve paused for a beat too long because she spoke again. “Are you okay? Did I hurt you?”
That was her all over. Always worrying and caring about others (him especially).
“Yeah! I’m fine!” He replied, trying to sound nonchalant. “Just feeling a bit under-the-weather. Winter and all, you know?” His voice didn’t sound like him. It was nervous, slightly high-pitched, and shook a little. He hoped that she didn’t know that there was something wrong.
“I know. You might want to invest in some actual winter clothes though to keep you warm. Converse and winter are not the best combination,” she laughed, looking him up and down at his unusual (to her now anyway) attire.
He could’ve cried and hugged her at hearing the jibe she’s told him multiple times while travelling with him. Instead, he forced himself to laugh and smile at her.
“Yeah, I suppose I should. Maybe one day,” he replied, scratching the back of his neck. A habit that he had developed when he was nervous.
She would have noticed and usually tried to comfort him. But not now. The thought made his hearts ache.
“Sorry but do I know you?” She asked, staring at him with a slight frown. His hearts leapt into his throat. “You just seem so familiar. What’s your name?”
He quickly composed himself before replying with a classic phrase. “No, sorry, I don’t think you do. I guess I just have one of those faces. Name’s David. David Smith.”
She had told him to stop with the John Smith alias as “no-one believes that’s your name. I may as well call myself Jane Doe.” So he had changed it as soon as he wiped her mind. Just in case he ever saw her again and the name John Smith made her remember.
“David…” She trailed off, as if she was trying to place the name, still slightly frowning until the crease between her eyebrows eased. “I guess you do just have one of those faces. Sorry about that,” she finished, smiling sheepishly.
He mentally released a breath that he didn’t realise he was holding.
“No worries,” he replied, smiling to try to ease her embarrassment that he knew she was feeling.
She may not remember him but he still knew her like the back of every hand he’s ever had.
They stood there for a few moments, longer than two seemingly strangers should, just smiling at each other before she looked away, a light blush colouring her already flushed cheeks from the cold.
His hearts ached again and pain filled his entire being.
He would never get to see her blush from embarrassment due to looking at him for too long again.
“I should probably go before the snow gets worse,” she said.
He looked around and noticed that the snow had started to get heavier since they had been talking.
“Of course. Get home safe.” His voice cracked. Home should be in the TARDIS with him.
“You too. Before you go,” she said, putting a hand on his arm as he was turning the leave.
He could feel the pain of having to leave her almost bring him to his knees due to feeling her touch again. It had felt so long since he had felt that and he never wanted her to stop.
He would never feel her comforting touch or her hand in his again and he was starting to break
She was rummaging through her bag and took out a blue scarf. TARDIS blue.
“Here,” she said softly as she leaned up on her tip toes and wrapped it around his neck. “I don’t know why but I just bought this. It’s not really my thing and I don’t have anyone else to give it to but there was something in my mind that urged me to buy it. Maybe this was fate,” she chuckled. “There! Looks great!” She grinned, smoothing out the scarf and his breath caught as her fingers grazed the back of his head.
“Thank you," he responded quietly, tears filling his eyes “Truly. Thank you.” He took her hands in his and kissed the back of them.
“You’re very welcome,” she said, just as quietly as him, and blushed once more.
He let go of her hands and took a step back. He swore that he saw disappointment on her face at that.
He didn’t have time to dwell on it for too long as she had thrown her arms tightly around his waist and pressed her face into his chest, taking a deep breath of him in.
He wasn’t sure if his hearts had stopped completely or if they were beating so fast that he couldn’t feel them beating properly anymore.
He wrapped his arms around her and kissed the top of her head, taking in the familiar and comforting scent.
The hug ended as quickly as it had started but before he could feel too disappointed, she had placed her hands on his shoulders, almost wrapping her arms around his neck like the scarf was, and pressed her lips to his cheek.
She stepped back and smiled brightly at him
“Merry Christmas, Doctor,” she said as she walked away.
He was frozen.
Did she just-?
Could she-?
No.
She couldn’t remember him.
Could she?
His brain was working faster than normal.
“Merry Christmas, Y/N,” he called after her before he knew was he was doing.
She briefly turned back and waved, that beautiful smile still on her lips, lighting up her whole face.
“Merry Christmas, my love,” he whispered, turning the corner as quickly as he could to find the TARDIS before him.
He could feel the old girl humming happily in his head and he smiled at her in return.
The image of his love didn’t leave his mind.
Not even as he noticed Ood Sigma.
Not even as he started to feel the pain of death returning.
Even when the Ood started singing to him and he felt himself burning, he could still see her.
Her smile bright and warm, helping him find peace.
At last.
~ A few streets away ~
“Huh. That was weird,” she said out loud.
Shrugging, she entered a café, still smiling and felt a warmth that travelled deep into her soul.
( Part one & part two here, it makes a lot more sense if you read it everything )
This drabble was @just-sp-in-inginthevoid idea, it happens in the final timeline. Because of course, the Haitani brothers are extras in every damn time line.
Mitsuya used to admire the Haitani brothers. Used, in past sentence.
(drabble of the Haitani being annoying and making the poor Mitsuya do the costumes for Kakucho's unbirthday)
Warnings: None, this is just hilarious (or it was in my mind). Also, fluff and comfort because Mitsuya is a saint!
(English is not my first language, so be nice please 🙈)
Mitsuya used to admire the Haitani brothers. He can't remember why right now, to be honest. He thought it was enough with having to make them a different uniform for Toman, but no.
Apparently, they liked his designs. Usually, Mitsuya would feel flattered by that, specially coming from the two rulers of Roppongi. Right now? He just feels annoyed.
Because them liking his work, only means that they ask him for special outfits every damn time. The young designer wanted to say no, but the Haitanis are paying for it and he knows his mom could use the money ( he could use the money too, actually ).
So even if their requests are weird as fuck, he does it. He keeps wondering who on Earth would ask for stylish Alice in Wonderland costumes, but he does it. The first time. And the second. And the third.
Mitsuya always considered himself a patient person, but apparently even he has limits. It's the damn four time in less than half a year.
Both brothers doing smug remarks. Rindou slurring the words, drunk even if it's only the afternoon. Ran getting too freaking close to Mitsuya every time he talks to him.
So it happens, the violet-haired boy finally snaps.
“And why exactly do you need so many costumes of this?”
The brothers look fazed after hearing his grumpy voice, not expecting this from the Toman captain.
“Dah, it's for Kakucho. Obviously.”
Mitsuya looks at Rindou, even more confused by this answer. Why was he expecting? A coherent reason? At least, he can see Ran rolling his eyes, apparently thinking the same about his little brother words. Deciding to give a better explanation.
“Kakucho doesn't have a real birthday. So we organize him unbirthday tea parties once in a while.”
Oh.
Oh.
The younger boy just smiles softly and nods, finally understanding it.
The next time the Haitanis pop up, Mitsuya already have some sketches to show them. New ideas for keeping the costumes original and aesthetically pleasing at the same time.
There is a lot of things about this two annoying brothers that he still doesn't get. A lot. But one thing he definitely gets is what it means to be there for your family. For your friends.
Who knows, maybe he actually has something in common with them.
Drowley, Fluff and Humor, Hurt/Comfort, Canon Compatible, Hellhounds, Introspective Dean, non sexual intimacy, exes to undefined intimacy to friends is the best way I can describe it
Rating: T ; 5.7k
Summary: Dean apologizes to Crowley after he is cured, and Crowley finds a way to help Dean cope with the Mark of Cain. As their relationship evolves, Dean addresses some of his own issues.
This can all reasonably have happened offscreen in season 10, from the end of episode 3 through around episode 8.
Read on AO3
Excerpts under the cut:
Dean put on his usual steely gaze and rolled his eyes, holding his right arm out towards Crowley.
Crowley got closer, took him by the hand, and used his left hand to slowly and gently trace the mark. The unexpected tenderness shattered the façade, and Dean just watched Crowley caress his arm, mouth slightly agape.
“You’ve always been fierce, when the situation called for it. But this,” Crowley spoke softly as he started tracing the mark again, “this made you positively brutal. Even when it was uncalled for.”
I already apologized. Dean thought, but Crowley continued before he could say anything.
...
“You’re gonna be the death of me.”
“Well, I should hope not. I can’t take another season of your demonic karaoke. One summer was more than enough.”

This story is a sequel to Zenana including a partial retelling of the last scenes.
I won’t write more in the blurb until S7 has been aired on PBS. You’ve been WARNED, this fic is full of SPOILERS.
For once, I’m beginning to post before I’ve completed a fic.
Chapter 2 is written and will probably be posted next week, my awesome Beta @astridcontramundum willing. (Again, all my gratitude for your help! I wouldn’t have written this fic if not for you.)
I’m in the first stages of writing Chapter 3 and I needed some kind of pressure to finish it, hence my posting.
If you do want to read the end of this fic, please let me know! Writing has been very difficult lately: lack of spare time and some soul-searching about my writing have gotten in the way, but I’ll do my best to go on with my Joan Morse AU series.
Doesn’t matter if nobody cares but me. We yeet posts into the void like adults.
Waffles:
Manhattan’s leader before Jack.
Tbh he was the good dad Jack never had.
He also pretty much raised Crutchie, Race, and Smalls.
And at least somewhat mentored most of the others from Jack’s era.
He ran away really young so he didn’t know how old he was, but the best guess was 6 or 7 years older than Jack.
Literally the softest, kindest dude you will ever meet.
Definitely too selfless for his own good.
Because there was a really hard winter when Jack was 14, and Waffles gave what little he was making to the younger kids to keep them alive.
By the time the others figured out he was lying about being okay, it was too late.
Jack got to say goodbye, but needless to say having his mentor die in front of him messed him up a little bit.
But anyway while he was alive, Waffles had a thing with a certain Brooklyn girl.
Or at least he would’ve.
They didn’t last very long even after they finally sucked it up and admitted their feelings.
Because she was a little younger than him and she was getting a bit old to be a Newsie.
She wanted him to think about moving on with her but Waffles wanted to wait until Jack was old enough to pass command off to him.
Because tbh he didn’t really trust anyone else to take care of Manhattan.
In the end, he cared too much about others and not enough about himself.
Too bad that cost him his happy ending.
Palomino
That certain Brooklyn girl.
Tbh she was a bitch.
‘Was’ because she died young too.
About a year before Waffles actually.
She stood up to the tyrannical king of Brooklyn at the time and it got her killed.
She wasn’t really a mother figure or even a big sister to anyone.
But the younger Brooklyn kids looked up to her anyway because she was this cool older girl who did things like soak people bigger than her and say swear words.
Little Spot lowkey learned to intimidate people from her.
And she kinda had Spot pegged as a future king of Brooklyn even when he was a little kid. She knew he’d be a good king if he could get the position and spent a lot of her free time teaching him every fighting move she knew.
It wasn’t until years later that Spot realized why.
Also Palomino was the one selling at Sheepshead at the time when Race first started trying his luck.
The first time she talked to him was kinda like “hey. hey kid. wanna learn a bunch of morally ambiguous skills?”
Little Race was like: 😯 😀 and obviously said yes.
They made a deal. Basically he’d use his cuteness so they could push more papes and she’d teach him stuff.
She taught him to make the most of bets, card games, and sales, and also how not to get caught cheating at those things. She taught him self-defense and also the right combination of friendliness, flirting, and annoyance to manipulate people.
Spot and Race were both pretty upset when she died, but tbh they were expecting it. Their mentor was always the type to pick fights she wasn’t sure she could win.
And neither of them knew it, but she was genuinely in love with Waffles.
She just wasn’t willing to give up her borough for him.
But during that brief time they were together, it was like that meme like Waffles just going my wife is a bitch and I like her so much!
They didn’t last very long because before they broke up, he knew Brooklyn wasn’t safe and wanted her to move to Manhattan, but she never would.
So maybe it was fitting that he later refused to leave his borough for her.
Bluebird
Now here’s the one that doesn’t get a tragic ending.
Bluebird is 5 years younger than Race and 6 younger than Spot.
She’s spunky and hotheaded, and Spot found her on the streets when she was 5.
This was before he was king, but he tried his best to take care of her, anyway, because even before he got official leadership, Spot protected his own.
Maybe a year and a half later, Blue would sometimes tag along with him to Sheepshead, to sell with his new best friend, Racetrack Higgins.
She liked Race because he taught her the stuff Palomino taught him and though he never swung the first fist, he wasn’t afraid to fight for her or Spot if necessary.
Spot and Race were kind of the parents Bluebird never had and she saw their relationship coming before they did.
When Spot became king, Blue served as his second until Hotshot came along. After that, Spot felt that she just needed to focus on growing up, because she was still only 7 at the time.
But by the time she was 13, she was a force to be reckoned with. A girl with all Spot’s ferocity and Race’s charisma. The skill to talk her way out of a confrontation and the intelligence to strategize the best way to win if she couldn’t. Someone who never lost a fight, be it verbal or physical.
Hotshot was 17 and still technically second, but not really the leading type.
So when Spot left, he handed command off to Bluebird, and she became the 13-year-old girl King of Brooklyn.
Anyone who messed with her quickly learned not to.
They learned that Spot Conlon trusted her to run Brooklyn for a reason.
And run it she did. Under Bluebird, the borough thrived and maintained the reputation previous kings built for it.
She had a brief fling with Les Jacobs when they were 16, but they later agreed that they’re better off as just friendly allies.
She also had a couple relationships with girls, but unlike Spot, she didn’t really find someone who could match her fire.
Bluebird becomes the 2nd consecutive king to pass off her power peacefully when she ages out.
With the winds rustling the leaves of so many trees, it’s as if the belts of forest are whispering ocean waves.
Hermione closed the small travel book and looked around their concealed camp, her heart yearning for Ron‘a return. His abandonment has stabbed her heart like a knife, but she would see her mission to its end. It’s bitter end if that’s what peace demanded of her. Harry was never meant to restore peace on his own. No such weight could rest on one persons shoulder.
She lay back in her cot by the small fire. Harry’s deep breaths of sleep intermingled with the tides of the trees, and for a moment she made believe that she was sailing the channel in summer. The campfire a blazing sun in her imagination.
All of this would end soon, and who knew if she would ever see the water again.
My (terrible, no good, very bad) NARUTO headcanons
These are mostly my thoughts after reading Gaiden. And I can tell you that you’re not going to like them no matter whom you ship or who your favourite character in the series is.
Naruto has been never interested in Sakura romantically. He wanted to be her friend, and he admired her hard work and the fact that she was a great student despite not being from a shinobi clan. But because he had no one to show him how to befriend the opposite sex, he took cues from the (terrible) romantic script from whatever media he had been consuming and executed them badly. (Not saying that the media dictates what we do, but it probably influences neglected children more than any other group because that’s going to be their primary way of understanding human interactions.)
Naruto hadn’t been interested in Sasuke beyond their rivalry when he was young. That’s why there’s an inconsistency between the apathy Naruto showed towards Sasuke at the very beginning and how he talked about it later. The way he tells it actually fits with how people who have known each other for a long time and are deeply in love talk about their past -- as if they have had this intense emotional connection right from the beginning even though they didn’t.
Sasuke, on the other hand, shows attentiveness right from the start. He’s actually the one who got interested first but he was unable to process the emotion due to his childhood upbringing, trauma, and his focus on revenge.
Even though Naruto and Sasuke end up in love with each other, they cannot be together, at least not as young adults. Sasuke’s too traumatized to love properly, and Naruto doesn’t understand how to care for a person who’s damaged and in pain in front of him instead of being a tragic figure he pines for at a distance. If they were to get together at that age, it would become a destructive relationship that destroyed both of them.
Not to mention that Naruto hasn’t quite fully formed his bi identity yet. Konoha seems very conservative about the expression of gender and sexuality. Jiraiya, the closest thing Naruto has to a consistent father figure, seems to fit the macho heteronormative idea of a guy to the tee. And since Naruto has terrible responses to Sai’s (unintentionally/jokingly) coming on to him but hadn’t been bothered by Haku, I can only conclude that Jiraiya had been a bad influence on that. There’s a possibility that at that age, Naruto has internalized the disapproval from his father figure and so never explores his feeling for Sasuke as deeply as he should have.
Naruto ends up with Hinata because she is safe. She is stable. She is available. She is a woman, which means Naruto knows how their relationship should go. She is patient with him and, sadly, also let him walk all over her more than she should. He does have feelings for her, which was born from friendship and familiarity, but it’s much paler than what he has for Sasuke.
Hinata has never been a stalker. F-U, Studio Pierrot.
Hinata knows about Naruto’s feelings for Sasuke. She accepts the fact that he is going to prioritize Konoha and Sasuke over her. It’s a result of her being treated as second best all her life. She might not have endured physical abuses, but the persistent putdowns mean she is aching for some kind of acceptance, and that’s pretty much the reason she is drawn to him in the first place. So, she’s willing to have this pale love than no love at all.
So, no, Naruto and Hinata’s relationship isn’t exactly healthy. It’s badly damaged and only exists because they both are damaged by the people who should have loved them. But since it’s better than what both of them have had, they stay together at least for the time being.
I really want someone to come along and show Hinata how being loved and respected properly actually looks like. I want her to not be treated as second best for a change.
Sakura and Sasuke’s marriage wasn’t actually born of romantic love but a deal Sasuke made with her. Sasuke wanted an heir to continue his bloodline, and so he asked the woman he trusts most to carry the child. Sakura’s status as his wife makes Sarada the legitimate heir and allows Sakura to be the primary caretaker of their daughter and his estate while Sasuke does pretty much fuck-all.
The proposal might have been a response to Naruto getting married. I couldn’t imagine how it would have felt like for Sasuke to watch that happen since he’s the more self-aware of the two.
I’m not saying that Sasuke took advantage of Sakura’s affection for him or her taking advantage of his need to her end. I think Sakura feels for Sasuke more like a family by the end of the War, and because of that, she feels for his loneliness and wants to help him build something for himself. Of course, she totally miscalculated how much Sasuke’s still a prick and how that decision is going to end up derailing the rest of her life.
Tsunade and Shizune suspected something was up when Sakura told them she was going to get married, but Sakura never told them anything.
Karin is the only other person who knows Sakura worked out a deal with Sasuke and supports her and Sarada where she can because she knows Sasuke makes for a shitty husband, even a mostly pretended one.
Sakura might have tried to have it all at first, but the reality of single-motherhood probably gets to her. Juggling that with working as a regular doctor at the hospital is probably too much for her health, so she chooses her daughter and becomes a stay-at-home mom. Sasuke’s inheritance is more than enough to keep the family going anyway if she spends them well.
Sakura still complains about her life choices every time Karin comes by for a drink. Except for Sarada. She regrets nothing about Sarada.
Sakura tries her best to keep Sarada from learning about the deal and tries to put up a charade of a romantic relationship in front of their daughter. Sasuke, of course, doesn’t understand this since he doesn’t subscribe to the same idea of family as Sakura or Sarada.
Naruto couldn’t have been a good father. He only knows how not to be abusive but in no way does he know how to connect to and treat children well. This is because he didn’t have consistent role models as a child, especially one who doesn’t also treat him as a shinobi. He was probably an okay dad when his children are young, but as he gets busier and they grow older, his prioritization becomes horribly off and he sees them more as shinobi just as everyone else has seen him. That’s why he asks them to tolerate his absence for the greater good instead of making rooms for them in his increasingly crazy life.
Okay, I just got angry again because our dear Kakucho doesn't have a birthday.
I refuse to believe that Izana would allow his boyfriend servant to not have one.
So this just happened. Enjoy it!
Izana's servant needs a birthday. Period.
(drabble of platonic KakuIza, since it's after Izana just got out of juvie and they are still kids)
Warnings: None, just platonic fluff!
Explanation: Sapporo Snow Festival is a big winter festival in Hokkaido, that takes place the first week of February (it starts a different day depending of the year, but I needed to choose one day). So of course, it had to be a day related with snow! 💜❄️
(english is not my first language, be nice please!)
Izana didn't realize until now. He blamed himself for a moment, but quickly got rid of the guilt. He was too busy with Shinichiro and then juvie for noticing.
But, after introducing his new "friends" to Kakucho, Ran asked the question that was making Izana's mind spiral.
"What? How can you not have a birthday?"
The older Haitani was surprised, his big brother instincts were starting to kick in with this kid. Kakucho seemed too nice for being surrounded by a bunch of lunatics like them.
"I just don't."
The scarred boy mumbled, looking away. Izana could see the sadness in Kakucho's eyes. He couldn't bare it, no way his servant wasn't going to have a birthday.
"Shut up, servant. Since today, your birthday is February 1st."
The king voice was firm, showing that there wasn't any room for objections on this matter. And of course, Kakucho didn't complain, but he looked at him with big curious eyes.
"Why that day?"
"It's when Sapporo Snow Festival starts. Obviously."
Izana replied calmly, with a soft smile directed to the younger boy. Kakucho's face lighted up instantly, like it was touched by some kind of magic.
The rest of the group just agreed with the date, not understanding exactly what was happening, but deciding unaniomously that this kid deserved a birthday.
