when levi brings his special someone home to meet his mother and gets shy about it.
It's been only, what, a few months or so since he met you on a heist by accident?
And this thug, infamous around the Underground City, has fallen in love ever since.
Without any warning whatsoever, which never happened before. And it confused the usually stoic man so much that thinking clearly became a real struggle for the most part.
Damn you and your pretty face, being nice and beautiful inside and outside.
So, being the reserved, aloof individual Levi is, he didn't confess his feelings for the longest time until last night. When he saw you in front of the brothel where his mother used to work at before.
A sight he would rather forget more than anything else.
"Ma. I wanna introduce you to someone who's important to me."
Kuchel, a curious person by nature, gives her only son a faint smile in response, gesturing for him to go ahead.
Who could that person be?
Looking behind him, she notices the person Levi mentioned within mere seconds. Honestly, given her Ackerman bloodline, it's not even shocking that her senses, just like Levi's are heightened in every single way possible.
He immediately takes note of his mother's curious gaze and tenses up, aware that teasing — playful but still mocking — would soon follow, seeing how he brought a girl home.
Nothing his mother sees on a regular basis like with other males around here, no. Levi's the most shy when it comes to opening up, so the fact a person managed to penetrate those metaphorical walls of his, higher than Wall Maria, is a feat in and of itself to her. And him.
"Who is it, angel?"
Just then, another face pops into view and it's yours. Big, curious eyes, and the cutest little smile plastered on your face to boot. Taller than Levi too, which honestly isn't a high bar considering this young man's small stature. Most people would tower over him, so no surprise there.
"Hi there, Miss Ackerman. I'm [Y/N], the person Levi wanted to introduce, nice to meet cha!"
Immediately, Levi lets out a groan of embarrassment, hiding half of his face with one hand while silently praying you didn't see the flush on his cheeks.
His mother, however, just finds herself quietly chuckling at your introduction.
It's.. endearing, to say the least.
"I see. You finally managed to win som'one over with tha' stubborn attitude of yers, huh?"
At that, a pointed glare is directed towards Kuchel, though without any malice behind it. When it comes to the person having given him life, Levi couldn't stay mad for long, no matter the circumstances
"Ain't funny, Ma."
Then the slightest pout — yes, an actual pout — formed on the young man's face when you reached out to take hold of his free hand, squeezing it once lightly.
Like you wanted to stake your claim on him right then and there.. and he let you.
Damn is he down bad for you. Now it's on full display for his mom to witness, too. Fuck-
"I'm sorry, sweetie, jus' couldn' help myself there, thinkin' how cute it is that you found your special someone out here."
Despite poking fun at Levi, Kuchel is genuinely happy to see company by her son's side which wasn't Isabel or Furlan, for a change.
It showed her that, although conditions in the Underground are downright horrible, people like her and Levi still managed to find their own versions of joy in different ways.
For Levi, it's finding that one person who sincerely liked him without wanting him to change or having bad intentions, letting the man be vulnerable at his own pace.
For Kuchel, it's seeing her miracle of a kid grow up healthy, safe despite all odds and — most importantly — happy.
Because damn the Walls if such an adorable thing doesn't result in making her feel bliss, everything corrupt momentarily forgotten as soon as her motherly gaze lands on Levi's rare smile — a sight for sore eyes, especially hers.
a/n: about time i wrote a little drabble about canonical divergence where levi's mother survived and lived with her beloved son 🥹 this has been an idea to write for a LONG while now so i hope i did it justice if that makes sense lmao. sorry for not being as active in posting my writings — moving's been a pain in the butt and i literally cannot get into my creative flow with all the chaos happening around me on a daily basis for over three weeks now (don't ask it's complicated). now it's 4am and i can't sleep. YAY.
