there’s literally no way for it to be practical i’m pretty sure the belts wouldn’t support themselves or stay on very well at all either…
The belt system seems a bit more probable than the tight pants, simply because they're similar to something that is used for fly systems in theatre. That is, however, only if the belts were made of nylon and not the more likely (for the setting) and widely-agreed up material, which is leather. Leather would slide right down.
