Brax's Guide to Poyla
Hi! For the past few days I've been making a guide on how to design and draw poyla, the creatures in my game and world. So, here it is!
Some additional notes: Most of the lists here are just examples, be it for shapes, limbs, eyes, mouths, etc. Just because something isn't directly shown doesn't mean it's not allowed! When it comes to shapes, some others I didn't include but would definitely be allowed are pentagons, hexagons, and platonic solids.
Some aesthetic changes... (Cap-Captch!)
Wow, is that a shitty pencil texture overlay? Yep! I'm hoping this'll add more texture to the game's art and make some of the saturated colors less eye-bleed-y The flat colors of the poyalia art style are, naturally, rather basic-looking, but when I draw larger pictures I can remedy this with a special outline brush that adds some visual intruige. However, this straight up doesn't work on such a small scale as RPG maker's sprites. So, I have to make do. I plan on eventually doing more for the character sprites rather than just having this pencil overlay. Especially for Captch (the protag,) who remains unmodified here. This is sort of a test. Hate the new style? Please let me know! Genuinely! This is gonna add quite a bit of work so if I should just get rid of it it'd be helpful to stop now.
Cap-Captch Devlog #5 - Title Screen!
Hi! This is pretty minor in the grand scheme of things, but I had a lot of fun making the art for it and wanted to share!
Here's the title screen for Cap-Captch! I know some RPG Maker games (like Hylics) have custom assets for the options and stuff, so hopefully I'll be able to get rid of that default window. Speaking of UI, I do plan to make custom window textures and a custom font to fit the aesthetic.
Please let me know if you have thoughts or criticisms on the title screen!
Captch found a weird bug and wants to give it to you! Do you accept?
