A #SeabirdSunday this week…with the most recent rescue being this stunning juvenile Cape Gannet. 🤩 Cape Gannets (Morus capensis) are an endangered species which occur in the waters of Southern and Western Africa, & breed only on very few islands off the coasts of South Africa and Namibia. This youngster will soon lose it’s starry-speckled brown plumage, giving way to a brilliant white body, contrasted black wings, & a lovely yellow head. It luckily will keep the gorgeous bluish teal around it’s eyes! Likely from the West Coast colonies on the Western Cape, it was seemingly just exhausted from it’s maiden voyage east, with high hopes for a full recovery and release.
