Tony Wilson’s Plaice, Manchester.
In all the years I have been absorbing and collecting and tagging Utopian ideas, One thing I have learned is that there is not only one or two utopian options for everything but more like 100, 1000, 10,000 (stylish, durable, sustainable, multi use) utopian alternatives but we're usually only able to access the one or two dystopian designs (wasteful, brittle, cliche, toxic, ugly) in actual life, even though we share and see all the possibilities everyday. In your actual society, all cars look the same, all buildings look the same, most shoes and clothes people actually wear, all movies look the same, the same cheesy crappy poisonous, polluting, selfish, annoying, in your face, apathetic, ugly, tasteless, embarrassing culture forced on everyone all the time. But when some people get home and decorate their private spaces they find ways and make small utopian cultures way more brilliant than anything you would see on tv. That's how the outside world should be too.
