Bucky x female reader

Warnings: none (I don’t think there are any except some made up/incorrect sciencey stuff)

A/N: Hello! This is part 1 of a small series I’m doing about Bucky and the female​ reader, who he knows through his dreams. (While I didn’t intend for it, I think this fic goes pretty well with Dreams by the Cranberries, So that’s where I got the title from :)) This part is centered mostly around Bucky. Next part will include more about the reader.

Bucky couldn’t pinpoint the exact date of when the dreams started to happen. Just that they coincided with when he was free from Hydra and on his own. It was difficult trying to build a new life, to remember who he was, and to be constantly looking over his shoulder. He always carried this fear that someone would recognize him, or that someone was coming after him. 

These dreams helped keep him going, even when things seemed to be at there worst. They provided him comfort during times when he had nothing to little else. 

All his dreams involved the same woman, she was loving, beautiful, and warm. He didn’t recognize her or know her name, but he felt so safe with her. He would never say it out loud, but a part of him was scared of his past catching up to him and what his future held. Being with her made him feel like everything was ok. 

The dreams were simple and peaceful. In some, Bucky and her would be laying in bed, his head resting on her chest, her fingers combing his hair, and sunlight seeping through the curtains. In others, they would be sitting on a park bench, her hand in his, sitting quietly, and watching the day go by. No matter where they were in the dreams, Bucky could feel how much this woman cared for him. Her warmth just radiated over him. Her facial expressions were so tender and sweet. No words were ever exchanged between them, they simply just enjoyed each other’s presence. 

When he would wake, Bucky could recall every detail of her face and smile, and the softness of her skin. Through out the day, Bucky would think about her. Every time he remembered his dreams about her, a small smile would form on his lips.

The dream he had last night was a particularly good one. They were walking together, his arm around her waist and her head resting against his shoulder. They were in the same park they had frequented in other dreams. Soon a light rain began to pour. She grinned up at him, before letting him go. She spun around in the rain with her arms open wide. He watched her lovingly from under a tree. After she was soaked head to toe, she joined him taking his hands within her own, her fingers fitting perfectly between his.

Bucky could feel himself smiling like an idiot just thinking about it.

“Mornin’ Buck,” Steve greeted as he entered the kitchen. 

Sam followed behind him, “Hey pal.”

They were just returning from their morning run. “We would’ve asked you to join us, but you were still sound asleep.”

Bucky nodded in response. He didn’t mind at all, in fact he was glad he got a chance to sleep in for a bit.

“Speaking of which, what is your secret man?” Sam asked. “With all the shit you’ve been through, I figured being able to get a good night’s rest would be impossible.”

Bucky just shrugged in response, and continued to drink his coffee.

Sam just shook his head, “I don’t know why I even bother half the time.”

Steve laughed a little, watching his two best friends.

“He has a point, Buck. Most of us have trouble just getting a couple of nights of sleep. You sleep pretty well in comparison.” Steve added.

“I don’t know what to say… Ever since I was released from Hydra’s control, I have these dreams about this woman.” Bucky stared at his coffee. “How often?” “Every night.” “And?” Sam pressed. “I… I don’t know her, other than these dreams I have of her.” Bucky felt uncomfortable sharing this. “But she seems so real.”

“Sounds like your subconscious created this woman as a way to help you cope,” Stark interrupted as he strutted into the kitchen. The three men looked at him. “Eavesdropping, Tony?” Steve asked, sounding irritated on Bucky’s behalf.

  “Hey, the kitchen is a common space, open to everyone.” Tony defended.

A sleepy Bruce wondered in. “Morning big guy!" 

Bruce grunted in response, he wasn’t much of a morning person considering he spends most nights working rather than sleeping.

Tony poured his fellow scientist a cup of coffee and handed it to him. "We were just talking about Barnes and these dreams he has." 

Tony got Bruce up to speed as he drank his coffee.

"Your hypothesis would make sense, except Bucky says he doesn’t recognize her,” Bruce stated a matter-of-factly, “if this was something his subconscious developed, then the woman would resemble a relative or maybe even a celebrity. All the people we dream about, are people we’ve seen or know about.”   

“So what do you think, Banner?” Tony asked. “We could do a brain scan and some tests while he sleeps… That could provide us with some answers.”

Bucky felt conflicted by the whole situation. On one hand, he was curious about her, but he didn’t want these dreams to end. 

“You okay, Buck?” “Yeah.” Bucky nodded. Bucky looked at at Bruce, “what do you think you might find… If we do the brain scan?" 

"Not sure, probably nothing. They could simply just be dreams of a woman you don’t remember." 

Tony clapped his hands together. "Time for an experiment!”

Bucky laid back and tried to relax. They were prepping him for an EEG and an FMRI, which he was told would measure his brain waves as he dreamed. Wires and small metal discs were placed on his scalp. Bucky felt nervous. Being hooked up to machines and having tests done.All of it reminded him of Hydra. He regulated his breathing to try to help him calm down.

Bruce gave Bucky something to help put him to sleep.

Soon his eyelids felt heavy and sleep took over. Bucky could feel a hand gently stroking his hair. He looked up at her, she was smiling down at him. His head in her lap. Bucky reached up and touched her cheek. She was so incredible. Bucky wanted to tell her, to let her know how much he appreciated her. But in his dreams he could never speak to her. 

Suddenly, Bucky’s eyes snapped open. Someone had been shaking his shoulder. Bucky was looking up at Steve and Sam. He groaned, and then sat up.

“How’d it go?” he asked.

Steve and Sam shrugged. Bruce and Tony were huddled together whispering, while looking over the results.

“This… Is unbelievable…” Bruce muttered. Tony nodded, staring at the data. “What’s unbelievable?” Bucky asked, annoyed at their secrecy. Bruce turned to face the rest of the group. “We found evidence of another person’s consciousness… It appears only when you’re in a deep sleep.” “So what does this mean?” “My best guess… Is that the woman has some kind of telepathic ability.” Bruce answered. “So… she’s real?” Bucky’s heart began to race. He couldn’t find the words to describe how he felt. He just wanted her in his life, not just in his dreams. There was also all these unanswered questions. Why hasn’t she tried to contact him? Why and how does she appear in his dreams?

“How can we find her?” Bucky felt determined to see this through.

You had been out all day with your little cousin who was six years old. She was an adorable little thing called Allison with beautiful red hair and green eyes. It had been her birthday yesterday, but you missed it. So, you made it up to her by promising to spend all day with her, for whatever day she wanted. When it got late, Allison had decided to nap while you carried her back to the tower. When you got up to your floor, you saw Bucky, Steve, Tony, and Natasha sitting in the living room.

You motioned for them to be quiet and took Allison to your room. Gently, you laid her on the bed and when you went to pull away, she clung tighter to you. Since you couldn’t leave for a little, you decided to just lay there and wait for her to let go. After maybe 15 minutes, she rolled over and had finally let go. While you walked out, you turned on a lamp so that she wouldn’t freak out because it was dark.

Once you got out of the room, you shut the door and walked over to where your boyfriend was sitting and lied down on the rest of the couch, and put your head in his lap. You were staring at the ceiling when Steve just looked down at you.

“You know, that little girl can be scary when she’s mad.” He suddenly said.

At that, you began to giggle. “She’s 6, how can she scare you?” you ask, finding that The Captain America, was scared of a little girl.

“You’re a jerk. And it’s only because she is very tiny, and yet she can have the loudest screams and cries and be frightening when she does that.” he replied. You grinned at him while the others were just laughing their asses off. You all made small talk before you had started to drift off. Steve noticed this and told everybody that it was time for bed.

Ever so slowly and gently, he picked your head up and laid it back down on the couch before reaching up under your back and your knees to pick you up. Then, he carried you to your room and laid you on one side of Allison, and then he went over to the other side and draped an arm over you and Allison. Then, he kissed the top of your head and whispered good night to you before smiling once more and drifting off to sleep.

I’ve been thinking about the plot twist in “Captain America: Steve Rogers”.

What did he really think about being in Hydra? Did he hope that becoming Captain America may be his way to forget about it? Is it a dark side he hoped to bury?

It was only the first issue. We don’t know how the story goes. I mean is that how you believe in Cap? Do you really think he is a part id Hydra? I mean, what was the point about his character in the first place? 

I’m upset, but it’s too early to be that much upset. I don’t like the sudden plot twist, but we have to see how it goes before we jump into conclutions.

Captain America 22, Remender, and Falcon

OK fellow comic fans, I'd love some other insight here. I've been reading the new Cap series since issue #1 and I'm not seeing what all the uproar is about Falcon and Jet in issue 22.

They're both consenting adults and it's pretty much established right there on the pages of the comic.

Some of the posts I've been reading have people starting their diatribes with lines like "I haven't read the issue in question" - well, then what exactly are you commenting on?

Is the story a big non-issue drummed up by people reading hand-picked lines and poorly informed/written reviews or is there something legit that I'm missing?
