B! sharing a drink, captain dragon friendship. (do it!)
You sent this in ages ago and today I decided to shake loose some cobwebs and write it. Set in S4.
In the gathering darkness Killian Jones walked with a lightness of step and smile on his face that he didn’t try to hide. Emma had proven once again that she was stronger than Rumplestilskin and his machinations and he couldn’t help the pride and relief he felt that she would be back the next day. As he turned toward the docks he was struck by the sight of Maleficent sitting on a bench and staring out to sea. He paused and wondered if the latest reformed villain would prefer company or solitude. As if sensing his presence, her head turned toward him. She raised an eyebrow and though it wasn’t quite an invitation he found himself drawn forward.
Without a word he settled onto the bench next to her and looked out over the water. They didn’t speak for a long time but the silence was companionable. Killian pulled out his flask and took a sip before offering it to her. She looked askance.
Killian smirked. “Much like me it’s an acquired taste.”
She shrugged and took the flask. She examined it for a moment and then took a long pull, before grimacing and handing it back. He chuckled.
“Tell me,” she said “Does it get easier, living in this strange realm?”
“It does. Especially if you have someone you care about who belongs here to help ease the transition.”
She nodded. “My daughter may not want to help me.”
“Perhaps not. But I imagine Regina would be more than happy to help.” She gave a slight smile but then it morphed into a frown. “But I wouldn’t despair quite yet, darling. Your Lily knows that you didn’t abandon her, that she was stolen from you, and that will make all the difference in her feelings toward you.”
“It did for Emma when she discovered the true reason she had grown up an orphan.”
She nodded and then held her hand out for the flask and when she drank she didn’t grimace.
