wip wednesday
happy thursday! i was tagged by @soupfic @poledancingghostson and @hawkslonggoodbye thank u all so much u are lovely <3 i've been locked in on buck week recently but have some more captain eddie x probie buck that i've been very slowly chipping away at!
Buck swaggers into Eddie's office, broad shoulders taking up most of the doorway as he crosses the threshold, one hand resting lazily on the buckle of his belt, the other wrapped around a mug. The door—which was left open for a reason—is kicked closed on his way in, and Buck folds himself practically in half as he sets the mug down in front of Eddie. "You've been in here all day. I thought you could use a pick-me-up, so I made you a cappuccino." Eddie glances down at the coffee, then back up at Buck. Now he feels bad for expecting the worst. "Thank you, Buck," Eddie says. "That was very thoughtful of you." "You're welcome," Buck replies, his cheeks going a rare shade of pink. Eddie doesn't acknowledge that it's almost the same color as his birthmark. He definitely doesn't acknowledge that it's a nice shade on him, or the way it makes his eyes pop. Eddie clears his throat. "Is that all?" Buck shrugs. "Aren't you going to try it?" Eddie gives a short, aborted nod. Trying it. Of course. That's only polite. Buck just made him coffee, that isn't flirting. Drinking it isn't going to mean Eddie is encouraging anything. It's just coffee. He takes a sip and hums, pleasantly surprised when it hits his tongue. "It's good, Buck," he says, looking up at him over the cup before downing a little more. It is good. Really good. Eddie absently wonders if he should worry he's being dosed with something, but surely not even Buck is that insane. "I made it exactly how you like it," Buck says, smiling ear to ear and clapping his hands together, proud of himself. "Sara—the cute barista at the local place—she's been showing me how she makes it whenever I go on coffee runs. Giving me tips and stuff." There's a line of questioning there about cute baristas and tips that's sitting just behind Eddie's teeth, but he knows better than to ask. Asking would be toeing the line of encouraging, and Eddie is not encouraging. He doesn't even care. Buck can get tips and stuff from whoever he likes. It's none of Eddie's business, so long as it happens in Buck's personal time and not on shift (or on LAFD property).
