honestly you all are so annoying because motherhood IS interesting but fandom people are simultaneously obsessed with deciding that every woman has motherly qualities and completely disinterested in actually exploring motherhood as a role that informs a character. I do think exploring a character being a mother can be wildly interesting if they are canonically one, but because of misogyny, people just view motherhood as a totally unremarkable naturalized state that all women must inhabit!
if you continue to tag men on this post about misogyny i will start killing the hostages.

kind of obsessed with the fact maddie and chimney literally took a haunted house and turned it into a home. what if two people who are constantly haunted by their pasts and their families took a rundown house everyone thinks is cursed, put in the work to renovate it, and made it their own. what if two people who can't outrun the past no matter how hard they try build the future somewhere ghosts lived. what if they got engaged there and planned to get married there and raised their kids there. and it's all literally in a haunted house. but it's not haunted for them. they're the ones who put in the work to turn it back into a home. they took something defined by the ghosts of the past and dared to transform it into something that shows they have a permanent future. insane.
s1 moments that make me scream 1/?
I was writing about possible themes in s10 in a comment on another post, and I came up with something I liked so I’m putting an edited version here as its own post.
After s9 looking at grief, leaning into your support networks, and moving forward, I think season 10 might be about identity. Who am I now? Who am I at all?
You could have Buck figuring out who he is to Theo and what it means for who he is in himself, building on his storyline last season of how he’s changed as he’s got older and who he is in relation to his parents and parent figures (including Bonnie).
For Eddie, he could be figuring out who he is outside his relational identities as Dad, Husband, Boyfriend, Firefighter, Son, etc, especially as Chris gets older and he doesn’t need to be Dad all the time. It could also obviously relate to his … lack of interest in dating (women) last season, and him settling more into himself (aka a queer Eddie / buddie arc of some type).
Chim and Maddie are surely both figuring out their new leadership roles and what it means from them as people, and as parents, and as a couple. They weee underdeveloped last season, and we didn’t touch on these areas much, so I really hope we might get more in s10.
Hen could be figuring out who she is now with her chronic condition, how to manage that going forward and what it means for her that she now has what is effectively a disability. But maybe she’s also thinking again about what she wants next in her career. She gave up med school, she gave up the captaincy. What DOES she want? I’d like to know.
With Harry it is obvious. He’s 18/19, his whole thing is figuring out who he is. I’d love if he got a storyline about him figuring out he’s acearo or some flavour of that, but I think we could also/instead be focusing on his identity as a firefighter as he finishes his probie year and grapples with following in Bobby’s (and Athena’s) footsteps without replicating their path, and maybe if we’re really lucky with how he feels about that v how he feels about NOT following in Michael’s shoes.
May has her new identity as a nurse to discover, and Athena will be finding her feet as a detective.
So yeah, I think identity as a season theme could work for everyone and give us some really good, deep character stuff.

Why do people so often rename Shannon's mother. She has a canonical name! She's called Janet! It's not hard to check.
Rewatching s5 recently, I kind of got the vibe that about halfway through the season they decided BuckTaylor wasn’t working for whatever reason, and decided instead to introduce Lucy with a view to breaking Buck and Taylor up by the end of the season and having BuckLucy in s6.
But then I guess maybe Lucy’s actress wasn’t available? Or that didn’t work either? And BuckLucy didn’t go ahead in s6, and instead we got single Buck for most of the season (or Buck’s pseudo threesome with Connor and Kameron, depending on your point of view), until they hit the cancellation period towards the end and had to enact some emergency endgames, and that’s when Natalia was thrown into play.
Mmm I just had an idea for an episode, maybe a bit like Ocean’s 911 or The Taking Of Dispatch 911 in it’s vibe.
So, the first third would be from Harry and Ravi’s point of view (mostly Harry’s, as he’s our main). It seems like a pretty normal, ordinary day. Buck has taken a sick day, and Eddie’s being a bit weird, but that kind of makes sense, you know what they’re like. And Harry especially doesn’t really know Eddie well enough, as a fellow adult, to pinpoint when he’s being particularly weird or why he might be doing so, so he doesn’t think much of it.
In the second part, we transition to Hen and Chim’s point of view, probably rerunning some of the same stuff we’ve seen in Harry’s and then building on it, but now we’re with Hen and Chim, who DO know Eddie well enough to know that something’s up. They’re not sure what though, and Eddie’s not talking, so they get Detective Athena involved.
In the third part, we are in Athena’s point of view as she investigates what all is going on here.
And in the final part, we’re in Buck and Eddie’s point of view, and we find out that actually Buck is not off sick (come on, Buck? Take a sick day? That was a Clue), some bad guy has him and the children held hostage and is threatening them to get Eddie to do some crime related thing, idk. Eddie was being watched the whole time, so he couldn’t tell anyone, but he left Clues around all day to try to raise the alarm.
Athena uncovers it and saves the day, because she’s Angela Bassett, and everyone’s fine. Yay!

Is there a 911 season 10 bingo card template yet? I want to start writing down my predictions for things I think might happen, and things I wish would happen.
