"AECC Tower, MEDEVAC 1, 15 miles out, inbound to the scene LZ."
“MEDEVAC 1, AECC Tower, Clear to land,”
“Roger, touchdown in 10 minutes,”
When the aircraft finally comes to a hover, ERO takes place, offloading cargo on the landing zone. Everything that is needed for the team and the new arrival. Looking back at the Captain, who’s disassociated from the flight, the pilot calls out.
“This will be touch-and-go. Stay safe out there, would hate to lose ya,”
With a small smirk and the jump bag being slung over a shoulder, the Captain acknowledges the pilot.
“I’ll be back in this cabin in no time. Safe travels back,”
The cabin door slides open as dust and debris create a haze near the base of the MEDEVAC. The Captain lowers to a knee to gain a better balance, tossing a few more tactical bags out the side door. Adjusting her scrub cap, she tries to make out the faces of the couple of members who grabbed the supplies. The team that’s expecting her.
“You must be the Captain,”
A voice calls out loudly over the thumping of the MEDEVACs rotor system. Once she finally exits the aircraft and approaches only a fraction of the team, the helicopter takes off.
A firm handshake is exchanged.
“Please, call me Soot,”
