For context a3! is about a theatre company that puts on plays. one of its sub troupes (the summer troupe) puts on a pirate-themed play called Captain Sky's Pirates, and Sky is the titular captain. he and his pirates crew are so cringefail it's hilarious; they're dirt poor and their ship is just barely holding itself together, yet they still go voyaging in the treacherous seas hoping for treasure. unbeknownst to him for most of the play, two of his crew members are highly infamous pirates: Bloody Henry, who is his right-hand man, and francoise "blackbeard" who joins his crew early on in the play. but even after finding out he still accepts them into his crew with open arms. this warmth and friendliness also extends to their enemy, a naval officer named Paul, who actually ends up switching sides and joining Sky's crew (albeit in an ending the actors made up after closing night bc the guy who played Paul felt lonely being the only one on the antagonistic side, but the game treats it as canon), so i think it speaks to Sky's charisma that he's able to get a naval officer who was hellbent on arresting them to switch sides and join him
Captain Shakespeare's the sexiest role of Robert DeNiro. He looks badass but is /very/ kind and loving. Once he decides you're family he'll help no matter what. You can trust him with literally anything. He harvests lightning illegally. He has a very carefully cultivated terrifying reputation. He crossdresses in his secret chamber as a hobby because he's a pirate captain and he can. His crew calls him Fearsome Captain. He named himself after Shakespeare. He walked so Stede Bonnet could run. I love him.
