Hi! I am in need of some of your amazing advice! I'm writing a story in which my characters are able to interact with one another in their dreams, using a device called a DreamVerse. How would you suggest going about describing the dream world? I don't want them to be completely realistic, but also not completely nonsensical. I'm not the best at describing scenery, haha. Any advice is greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Well you're in luck, friend, because my main WIP also takes place in the dreamworld! 

The principal that I've been working with in my story is that dreams are, more or less, based on reality. However, there's just enough switched around and different and wrong to lend the setting a feeling of unease or strangeness. For example, if a character were to walk down a street, and all the houses were connected to the street by a sidewalk but there were no lawns or ground, so the houses were just floating in midair. 

I strongly suggest that you go to websites and places online that archive people's dreams. They're a great source for information and weird imagery! Also look at the works of surrealist artists such as Salvador Dali, or browse the "dream" tag or surrealism section on DeviantArt under art and photography for inspiration.

Hello, I'd like a prompt for a different version of Rumplestiltskin. Basically, the girl really can spin straw into gold and because of this, gets taken by the lord of the land because he can't pay war taxes to the king and doesn't want his sons to be taken off to war. Any ideas to start? I usually write in 3rd person, btw.

So today has been less than ideal. I have not felt well due to my endometriosis and anxiety. I'm a very paranoid person, so strange things can frighten me and stay in my head for a long time, taunting me and making me believe I'm becoming a terrible person. Which is not true of course, it's always just my anxiety talking but nevertheless... I'm hating life right now.

ON THE BRIGHT SIDE

I've started reading Clone Commandos: Hard Contact which was recommended to me by Skylar.

First thoughts are it's better than No Prisoners which is also a book made by Karen Traviss, the author of Hard Contact. I'm loving the clone action which is abounding (no duh, it's a book about clone commandos).

There's a lot I don't understand though. Like I couldn't remember what Neimoidians or Weequay were. I can never remember Star Wars species names. The clones are always using soldier lingo, which I don't get either. I'm having to just try and imagine what everything is they're talking about. It's very odd.

Also Fi. How do you pronounce it? Fee? Figh? Fo? Fum?

I just don't know.

Right, let’s get down to business.

1. What is your dream job?

Anyone who knows me will know that without a doubt it is ILLUSTRATOR. If I don’t one day become an illustrator then that’ll be surprising and incredibly disappointing. XDD

2. If you could change one thing about how physics on our planet works, what would you change?

It’d be cool if we could just choose how much you weighed… Not in the sense of how skinny you were but as in how much gravity affected you. Basically flying but you don’t need wings :DD 3. Pick a song that fits your mood today.

Erm I’m going to go with Fistful of Dollars because I was drawing a lot today and it’s like a cowboy song and it makes me think of drawing guns??? Also I was wearing plaid and combat boots so I felt a bit badass -3-

4. What was your favourite book when you were little?

Winnie The Pooh was definitely my absolute favourite :DD

5. What is your favourite smell?

Petrichor, and not because if Doctor Who, but because I freaking love the smell of everything after it rains. Everything just smells so much stronger and earthier and oh my I LOVE it :’))

6. If you could tame and use any wild animal as a mount, which animal would you pick?

DRAGON. Unless it has to be an animal proven to exist and be alive, in which case I’d go for a snow leopard (partly because of cry of the icemark) - it’d just be so awesome to ride around on one of them :DD

7. What colour do you hate/dislike and why?

Colour? I like all colours on their own, but I really don’t like dark blue and bright orange or bright red together… Ew. DDX

8. If you could be a designer of anything, what would you like to design?

Hmm… A commercial space ship that lets you fly easily to distant planets in a short amount of time… That’d be fantastic :DD Or even just the ability to travel at the speed of light I just something that let’s you travel through space easily. ((:

9. What kinds of book covers put you off picking a book up and reading it?

Just generally ugly ones or that make the book look boring/depressing/a genre I do not have any interest in
