Winterlock Exchange Ficlet
For the winterlock exchange - a 221b.
Occasionally, when the hustle and bustle over Christmas dies, John feels a bit let down. The excitement is over and soon everything will be back to the way it normally is. And while he and Sherlock might not do much for Christmas, he does enjoy the holidays. It reminds him of when he was younger and his parents were still alive.
He sits alone in 221b, regarding the fireplace and the two stockings Mrs Hudson insisted on putting up - and because they were hand-stitched and created with care even Sherlock didn't feel right in taking them down. They're empty now, though he and Sherlock had returned from a case Christmas morning to find them filled with little treats.
He takes a sip from his glass and glances at the clock, a faint smile breaking out when he sees the time. It's getting late and he knows that his time to reminisce alone is going to soon be over. He watches the numbers change slowly, and they've only done so a handful of times before -
The downstairs door bangs open and footsteps come flying up the stairs.
"John!" Sherlock shouts, bursting through the door. "We've got a case, get up."
John's smile only grows wider, even while he says in what is an undeniably fond tone, "You're such a bother."

I hope to do well in my courses, travel, and to complete some goals in rock climbing!

One of my faves: "Becoming fearless isn't the point. That's impossible. It's learning how to control your fear, and how to be free from it" (Divergent). Because I have many fears, but have overcome a few, which I used to think was impossible.
3. What did you want to be when you grew up?
A teacher, photographer, veterinarian. But mostly a teacher.

Giraffe. I just love them.
