RAHHH CARBIDE LAMP

It needs a new flint but the rest of it seems to be in fairly decent condition.

I need to clean it and check to see if the water needle works, I'll keep yall updated

Ok so I was talking to a friend who says that silver solder with plenty of flux will adhere really well to brass so I might not even have to weld it

Yeahhh that was lead solder

But I got most of it off and you can see the crack now :D

I'll see if I have a respirator rated for lead somewhere and grind the rest off

Not horrible all things considered, I can fix it

You know, it just occurred to me that I might be picking at lead solder

I'm going to take a propane torch to it to see if it melts off

Speed of Light

Even the most primitive light source still travels at the speed of light. Enough in the right circumstances to cause a time violation perhaps?

Even though I already have a perfectly good carbide lamp (from an old stone shed that keeps turning up interesting objects, like the rusting globe I used in Strange Attractor), when this squashed and broken one emerged from the darkness I could ‘see’ it was the one I needed as the next image for this project.  Where do ideas and inspiration come from, might future memory be a source?
