38: What memory do they revisit the most often?[Spoilers, darling. I play her next to some of the people who’ll see this, and character secrets make me happy.]

E: Are they someone you would get along with? Would they get along with you?I wouldn’t like her. Cecilia is Invictus, there’s entitlement in her blood.  I don’t like being talked down to, and oh she would. She considers herself better than… pretty much everyone else.I’m perhaps too nice for her tastes. I’d probably be beneath her notice, one of the student body. She doesn’t really care about individual kine, for the most part.

5. How many words can you write if you sit down and concentrate intensely for an hour?

My max is around 4k. And that’s if I know exactly what I’m writing and have a super clear idea and just bang the words out. I have a lot of these moments during NaNoWriMo (which is the whole point of that, anyway), and most of those sessions were total shit. On average, I usually go about 2.5k in a good, undistributed hour of writing.

12. A fic you wish you had written better, and why?

I wish I’d written Brain Camp better. I hadn’t written a longer fic in some time by then, and only a handful of oneshots. So the whole of that fic is basically me finding my voice after such a long time (five years) away from anything that wasn’t technical writing. I hadn’t written creatively in years, so the vast majority of that fic is me stumbling through rediscovering creative writing, and getting all the rust out.

16. Do you have structured ideas of how your story is supposed to go, or do you make it up as you write?

A little bit of both, depending on the story. I do, in fact, make outlines most of the time. However, when I start writing, the outlines usually don’t stick, even when I try to make them. Burn Down the Sky was outlined originally for 10 chapters. Then 30. Then ended at 41. But somewhere in the mid-twenties I realized a pattern to the extra chapters, so I knew it was going to be around 40 chapters. An Accidental Incubus has an entirely different ending than I’d planned. Once I started writing it, I discovered what I’d originally planned was just not going to work, so I redid the outline and actually managed to stick to it exactly. Several of my oneshots just meander until I’m done. And my MEBB fics in general also don’t have outlines, even with the longer lengths. I knew what I wanted to write about and just let it end where it was going to. One of my strengths as a writer is staying on point. I don’t often have to scrap chapters because they’re total filler and have no relevance to the plot. So, in the end, it’s pretty safe for me to not outline too much. Which is good, because as they say, the best laid plans always go to waste.
