at first the mizu7 seems very bland, i agree. but the more you look at it, the more you notice: the artwork is jaw dropping, the color scheme is incredibly fitting, and the symbolism and details ARE there. its okay if u think it is not as stunning as other cards, but calling this set ugly is just pure lies!!!

mizuki finally looks happy staring at herself in the mirror..... in the trained, it isnt covered like the mirror we see in her room over the years. its in full display, and she stands there... with such a sincere smile... i wonder what happens in the fashion event for her to look so glad! i'm so proud of her !!! on another note, the color scheme, composition, and artline looks different from all the other cards... mizuki really IS always the odd one out, but... she looks comfortable with it here! the door open... the flowers.... the warm, sunlit environment in contrast to the other's soft and cold... how hopeful! could the open door, full of light, represent her bright future? attending an event at a fashion school... she's come so so so far!

niigo miku is back after YEARS!!! and god her card makes me wanna cry. for someone deemed ampty and emotionless in the beginning of the story, now, almost 6 years later, it's heartbreaking and beautiful how much emotion you can notice even in such a vague expression. im so glad to see her making a comeback, and this card makes it hard for me to save my crystals for rui6!!!

kanade's both untrained and trained artwork and palette are so fitting for her!!! in the untrained, the first thing i noticed was the cuteeee hairstyle!!! are those flowers, like the ones mizuki and miko have in their traineds? i would LOVE to hear someone's thoughts on this! i dont know much about gardening and flower theory, but this looks very interesting! and then i noticed how clean the kitchen was, and how shes drinking something... could she be getting even better at taking care of herself? has she cleaned up and make herself something to drink? it's touching to think about... she's evolved so much... i also noticed the colors in this one are very similar to miku's trained!

okay, the costume in the trained looks VEERY comfy. if its implied mizuki was the one who made their costumes, then she did an AMAZING job! again, more flowers and soft lighting, huh? i want to see someone's interpretation sooo bad! her expressions very cute as well!!!! maybe i SHOULD pull on this...

oooh and mafuyu's card.... god if i began talking about how much i love it i fear i'd lose track of time. my heart hurts just looking at it. it's a 3 star, right?? yet, for many reasons, i find myself wanting that one more than any gacha card auaghsh... the signs all point to different kinds of flowers, and they all have different colors... do they represent niigo? purple for mafuyu, red for kanade, pink for mizuki, golden for ena? the flower she's holding looks similar to the one mizuki has in the vase by the mirror in her trained... soooo INTERESTING ghaaa!!!

after the climax of mizu5, the resolution of ena5, and the peaceful relief of mizu6, i am glad to see the story following a more lighthearted and calm directory (assuming by the cards, i mean). theyre not boring! they feel gentle, like a hug after a breakdown. mizu7 will be amazing, i can feel it!

So I finally had time to read Nightglow today, and like, yeah - I get why everyone was so excited over the Sylus’ woman line, but we aren’t talking about so much other good stuff?!

We get a whole Ghost moment with polishing jewels. (We also see him talk about he only trusts his cut with certain gems, which I found interesting.)

We get this nod back to their first auction together.

The whole music hall scene was fun, but I think may have actually been a nod toward Luke and Kieran in a small way. ( World Underneath chapters ) The fact he made fake tickets to draw out people that he needed to take down was…interesting, but also set up for the rest of the card.

Because now we’re more at the part I want to talk about.

I’ve seen a lot of people talk about how we’ve only seen a lot of sweet Sylus cards for a while, but Infold has now brought the Bossman back repeatedly. First with the updated chapters, a promise card, and now two back to back cards - Nightglow and Improvised Flow.

All of them Sylus is struggling to maintain power.

Now it’s easy to brush this off, because even Sylus talks about its normal for people to try and kill him, but it’s happening more and more with MC around.

And something about this conversation…

Maybe I’m reading too much into it, but, this is clearly more than just showing off jewelry. Hell, I think it might even be more than proving to everyone that he’s still the one fully in charge.

I think it’s also a warning of who is under his protection as well. We know Astra and Ever have massive beef with Sylus thanks to the main story and the World Underneath chapters. And I’m almost willing to bet there’s at least one person in this crowd he’s expecting to bring back the message.

My turn to yap about the new set: featuring a copious amount of flower language talk (cut for my initial points but i added a lot more under the cut :3)

The flowers in Mizu5 are white roses which mean many things but specifically “new beginnings” and “remembrance”

Whereas the new card has what looks like many different colored daisies, which also mean new beginnings, as well as “joy” and “cheerfulness”

Kanade and lens cards also have daises, (which is the overall theme of the set), but they also have some other flowers

Kanade specifically, despite all the daisies, is looking towards (what looks like) white poinsettias, which mean “purity” and “innocence,” as well as “good cheer” and “success”

and what i thought were bluebells—which actually seem to be canterbury bells, which mean “gratitude” and “faith”

Lens card has a LOT of flowers, including the ones from kanade’s card and daisies ofc

I might analyze all of them at some point, but considering how the book len is titled “Flowers,” he’s doing enough research for me /j aka im tired and i sont think those specific flowers add too much meaning/have that much significance

Tldr: the flowers overall mean cheer, new beginnings, and gratitude, and i think that suits mizuki’s arc perfectly :)

Carved Gemheart will be one of my favourite cards of all times and very dear to my heart because not only it's one of the very few pure fluff cards (I swear all of Rafayel's cards have angst sneaking in, masquerading as fluff or spice) but also I adore Scholar!Mc

Actually more than adore, I truly feel like Scholar! MC is 100% me in all aspects. Like me, she holds a post of good reputation at the Ministry of Ceremonial Affairs, and still her post is not that high enough to outrank the other ministers. She doesn't care that her current position means the chances of bribery being low - infact, she's more than content with things being that way, and I adore how her office space is so filled with books, even the seats are occupied. Not to mention how she implied that other than herself and Rafayel, no one else comes to her office - GIRL SAME😭🤝

I also love how Scholar!MC is so oblivious (as Rafayel put it, she's "very humble" about it😭😭😭😭). From an audience pov, it was very clear to me how much affection Rafayel harboured for her, but our dear scholar? Nope, she thought he meant her clothes (that scene made me laugh-cry so much sobs girl why😭) BUT the thing is - that's exactly who I am irl!!!!

I've always loved MC but Yunshao's Scholar from the Department of Ceremonial Affairs.... That girl's me! Everything about her, I saw in myself! Especially the way she realised her feelings for Rafayel and confessed to him, and still struggled to articulate them.

And that's another reason why I love Rafayel so much. With him, I feel so seen, like it doesn't matter that I make him wait, or that I'm completely oblivious about his feelings, that he essentially needs to spell it out for me so that I know he loves me, that I even struggle to say those words of affection back. For him, it's enough I love him, and choose him - and I do, he's everything 🥺💜

I love everything about this card - About our cute and intelligent Scholar!MC, our charming and beloved prince from Zhaole, their banters and Rafayel's teasings, Mc going "We're best friends" and Rafayel restraining himself from facepalming, visibly frustrated but patiently waiting for her to catch up... And the way it all comes to head, with Rafayel's confession, MCs realisation, her unique way of confessing back...

This card is so special to me. Gods. Infold peaked with this🩷💜

"We, With Wounded Hand." Card Analysis

All the card have this butterfly motif on them. Butterflies are associated with transformation, now it's obvious that Mizuki represent the butterfly because in Mizu5 the butterfly is flying away and in Ena5 the butterfly is flying back but the motif of transformation could also refer to their relationship, it's transforming from how it was from the beginning, how it was when the secret came out and how it is when they communicate to each about the secret.

The flower I think are suppose to be cherry blossoms, they represent life and death, beauty and violence. This meanings are very contracting to each other just like the contradiction to the themes expressed of the two event's cards. In mizu5, Mizuki had what one could call a panic attack, they felt it was a life ending experience, that it would be the death of their friendship to Niigo, that it would damage it beyond repair. In ena5 the flowers are blooming all around, it's beautiful, almost to express how Mizuki is beautiful even when they bloom, things can die but they can also be reborn into something new, death could mean so much and it doesn't alway have to be a bad thing, there is sometimes beauty in it like how their is beauty in in Mizuki's truth, Niigo's relationship has died in the sense that it's no longer the same as it was before but also been given a new life to it, it has changed and their's beauty in that.

In mizu5, Mizuki hides their eyes so they can be blind to the pain. In ena5, Mizuki still closes her eye but she's not wearing a blindfold but they're still closing her eyes, they're not trying to ignore the pain that they felt in the other card but they're still closes their eye because the pain they felt when their secret was announced before they were ready to say it can't be erased, the past can never be erased, the eyes close can serve as a relic to Mizu5.

Ena is reaching out to a flower because Mizuki see themself as the flower, ena's face in mizu5 card could be seen as sadness but also disgust, maybe Mizuki think that ena is disgust by their secret, maybe in Mizuki's point of view Ena is reaching out because that was the last thing Mizuki saw before leaving. However, in ena5 she reaching out to Mizuki because she see Mizuki for who they are, something that Mizuki should not be ashamed of, she reaching out to comfort her friend. The difference in both the hand reaching is that Mizu5 hand is hesitant while Ena5 there's not even a hint of hesitant showing character growth.

When I first saw Kanade card it reminded me of her colorfes card with the white flowers and looking away from a distance but I also noticed the opposing colour scheme with purple being the opposite of yellow, not sure if there's anything there. Also Kanade and Mafuyu as the 3 star of Mizu5 and Ena5 are both watching from a distance in their cards, the 3 star are kinda like a mirror of each other as Mafuyu looks to the right and Kanade looks to the left but even their outfits fit them, Mafuyu clothes are covering most of her skin, almost expressing her close off nature while Kanade show the skin on her arm and legs showing her nature of wanting to her music to reach others. Kanade card is more vibrant in it's colour while Mafuyu is more saturated, I love how polarising the cards are to each other like how the two event are different themes to the same story.

Both vocaloid have the main motif of the cards near their ear, Meiko is also looking at the the flower while Kaito is looking away from the flower showing the contrast in how they choose to deal with Mizuki's situation, Kaito look more cold in his approach while Meiko looks more gentle in her approach, like a perfect mirror to Mizuki and Mafuyu character's vs Kanade and Ena character's within the cards. Mafuyu and Mizuki were quick to close themselves off from their problems while Kanade and Ena were quick lend a hand and defend the other. Vocaloid are meant to represent the unit's characters even if in Niigo case, Mafuyu was the one who made the Sekai it still serve as a great representation of the two roles. I also think Meiko and Kaito were the perfect fit for choosen vocaloid, they are counterpart, similair to rin and len, and their hair fit the colour scheme with Mizu5 being mostly of a cooler colour scheme while Ena5 being mostly of a warmer colour scheme.
