Honestly, when lammily came out, it made me feel so much worse about my body than Barbie ever did. Barbie wasn’t made to look like a “real” woman, so I didn’t think my body needed to look like that. But lammily is allll about how a woman’s body is “supposed to” look.
and its ridiculous, so so so ridiculous she was a white doll and the advertisements featured girls of colour saying “She looks like me”, and everything about her being said was realistic when she had hairless smooth skin, a HUGE thigh gap and eurocentric features.
If Lammily was like “Different is beautiful” while focusing how Lammily was an individual who didn’t fit Barbie’s beauty standards I would be a bit more lenient in how she’s addressng body image cuz I probably wouldn’t have immediately think the concept was shit cuz Lammily can’t encompass all types of women just as Barbie can’t either.
Instead all Lamm would fucking say is “AVERAGE AVERAGE AVERAGE YOURE AVERAGE UNLIKE BARBIE” all the time trying to say everyone looked like this one doll.
