(In my headcanon, the red in Yugi's hair is hair colored. On the image, he has just begun coloring it, so he isn't the world's best at it yet. I think he just began high school on this image)
Yugi's father hasn't been very attentive to his son. he was more busy working rather than being a father to him. But if anyone asked Yugi, he would say his father figure was his own grandfather. Solomon and Yugi are similar in some ways; they both have an immensely strong love for all types of games, and they are daydreamers but with different views on that part. It was also Solomon who presented the card game Duel Monster to Yugi, which he proved to be just as good at, if not more, than the older man himself.
it might even by Solomon's fault that Yugi is named the way he is. Solomon took the father role to his grandson and taught him everything he knew. he is the one to comfort Yugi when he came home with bruises or stolen lunch, and he is also the man who put Yugi on his destiny, and he was aware of it to a certain degree. but he couldn't be more prouder of his grandson.
There is no denying Yugi loves his grandfather and looks up to him. he might find him ridiculous at times (he doesn't believe all of his stories are true, and he has more than once been dragged into some sale schemes with the shop), but he still always goes to him first when he needs advise or listening ear. Solomon is also the only one in his family who is aware of Yami and has covered for him more than once when things get too weird. Yugi couldn't ask for a better father figure.
