Cardverse headcanons because I have a certain incomformity with how the Kingdoms are laid out:
Clubs is actually an Empire due to being the larger of all the kingdoms, but it kept the roles of King and Queen as they were instead of changing them to Emperor and Empress.
Spades, Diamonds and Hearts are kingdoms with the regular layout of King and Queen.
Noble titles are often inherited on the paternal line, from father to the eldest living son. Daughters can also inherit if there are no sons.
The Mark of the King is often inherited from father to the eldest living son, as well, however, it has also appeared on the eldest living daughter. Such occasion has been extremely rare.
The Mark of the Queen, however, often appears on the best candidate for the role, or what people may consider the King's soulmate.
The Marks of the Jack and Ace, on the other hand, are earned. The Mark of the Jack is earned by proving academic excellence, and the Mark of the Ace is earned by proving an extraordinary skill in battle.
All the citizes of the four Kingdoms have magic flowing through their veins in different scales. Nobles are more magically powerful than common people.
Each Kingdom has a different kind of magic. In Spades, it's related to time. In Hearts, it's related to human emotions. In Diamonds, it's related to material things and objects. And, in Clubs, it's related to nature.
Gay marriage is legal in all of the kingdoms.
Children of same-sex couples are often adopted and/or born through surrogacy.
It's not unusual for nobility to have marriages of convenience amongst its members, however, love matches are not that uncommon.
For some reason, I feel more drawn to aesthetics inspired by the Regency period/Bridgerton/Jane Austen's novels rather than the usual medieval-like aesthetics.
He had imaginary friend cat what he called Oliver back in when he was young boy (from 4 to 10 years old), describing the cat to be scottish fold with reddish spots on its white/slightly gray fur and green eyes. No one believed him due no one else saw the cat other than Arthur himself and the cat followed the boy everywhere. He even sometimes said that Oliver was beside him while he was sleeping.
If you asked Alfred who his dad is, he will say his instructor, Timo. Timo taught him how to shoot, fight without magic and even carpentry. He was also there for the prince when his mother died while Arthur maintained the image of the strong king. And yes it does piss Arthur off.
Can we plz hear more of your headcanons? Like little small ones so they won't interrupt the plot of the au maybe?

Here's what there's already seen in this au;
- Arthur's hips (feat. Alfred's teasing)
- Arthur is from Hearts (because of Germanic family.. And I didn't want to be cliche and place him to Diamonds)
- Alfred has named his white horse Hero
- Kuma is big polar bear what Matthew can ride like a horse
- Alfred and Ivan are.. Not so good friends, more like those who gives snark comments to each other
- Spade and Hearts have good relationship because of Arthur
- They all have Spadian marks on them, Alfred got his own at birth (Just like Matthew) while Arthur got it when he turned 10, Yao had it when he was 7.
Those are all what's been for now.. There's more coming, since I sprinkle them around like sprinkles on the ice cream.
So I recently become aware of Cardverse, specifically Spades, and I have to say I’m disappointed. Now if you ship USUK, congratulations, I don’t. Sorry, but that’s all that’s in the Cardverse tag so I decided to do something different and after making my states I did this I hope you enjoy.
First of all, Alfred and Arthur are father and son in this. Now you would probably be asking why Arthur is Queen of Spades then, well my reasoning is the same as the title of Queen Mother. You see Arthur saw Alfred as incompetent in his position as the new King of Spades, so he’s has took the title ‘Queen’ in order to make sure Alfred doesn’t ruin the kingdom until they find the actual queen. This has happened several times before in their history.
Speaking of, while House Kirkland of Spades will always hold the title of King, the Queen is another matter altogether. The Queens are always a bit of a wild card (pun intended) for they can be a member of the nobility and even the peasantry and another kingdom. For example, Arthur’s queen was Princess Juliana of Diamonds who woke up one morning with the mark of the Queen of Spades in place of the 10 of Diamonds which caused their marriage to be arranged. Luckily, this did end the 100 year conflict between the two countries.
Since the Queen is a wild card, sometimes the Kings never find them at all. This is not good. A case one can point to is the subject King Elizabeth Kirkland of Spades. She could never find her Queen and ended up dying without an heir. This caused a bloody civil war in Spades nearly tearing the country in half until they backed Lord Austin Jones, the second cousin of Elizabeth, as King. Now King Austin, in an attempt to prevent more conflicts like that, started the tradition of handmaids which are basically concubines. Handmaids are basically men and women who are there to provide the King heirs. Yeah, they’re basically the royal babymakers. This caused more than a few problems for the kingdom but it keeps peace within the kingdom so there will never not be an heir.
Handmaids can be from any class as long as they’re fertile. One example of this is Ka'iulani who was a princess in her own right before becoming the last of King Alfred’s Handmaids in order to maintain her kingdom’s sovereignty while Tabitha Nightingale was a 3 who became a Handmaid after she enchanted Alfred with her beautiful singing voice. Some have even been awarded the title ‘Mother/Father of the King’ if their child ascends the throne which usually means they will have more privileges once this happened.
Speaking of titles, as you have seen titles such as ‘King’, ‘Queen’, and ‘Handmaid’ are gender neutral. It really just depends on the rank.
The most Handmaids a King has had was actually King Anna Kirkland, Alfred’s great-great grandmother at a whopping four hundred since she had a hard getting pregnant until one of them gave her a daughter she named Rose.
The least was actually Queen Arthur who only had his wife and a mistress with whom he had Peter Kirkland, the Joker of Clubs and Spades.
Hey that leads great into their relationship with Clubs. Now Clubs is not evil. Nor is King Ivan. In fact, these were rumors spread around by Spades. You see Spades and Clubs are both vast countries with many resources with Spades it’s their technology with Clubs it’s their vast natural resources. Unfortunately, this means the two kingdoms tend to butt heads constantly. However, Prince Peter Nicholas is actually native to Clubs and yet Alfred still took him in.
Speaking of Spadian technology, think the Industrial Revolution of the 19th century. There technology has made them one of, if not the, most powerful nation in their world. However, the life of the average factory worker was difficult at best.
Now Spades was and still is rather Classist too, which is why nothing has been done in centuries. However, this changed with Alfred ascension to the throne. You see the main cause of tension between father and son is this. Arthur has been raised most of his life with this mindset and saw how it kept balanced in the kingdom, however Alfred hated this for he studied Dimante and Heartian literature since he was child at the request of his mother on her deathbed and knew that the feudal system they had was a recipe for disaster and he wanted to change that by attempting to implement an election system like they had in Hearts.
Also on Alfred, he’s actually very smart and has a lot of ideas for the kingdom. However, where people think he’s stupid is his implementation of these ideas. During a drought, Alfred used his magic to create a rainstorm, unfortunately, he couldn’t reverse the spell and it ended up flooding the kingdom. Luckily, Arthur was able to undo it in time.
Alfred was also seen as a magical failure and in a Kingdom of Power, this is not good.
That’s all I have for now. Maybe I’ll do the other kingdoms if this gets a lot of likes.
