For the lovely @im-lad-ris
The day was late, you had been fatigued all day from your current condition. You felt your body shiver as you laid underneath the thin blankets. You had been helped all day but secretly you hated it. You hated being in a weak state but you couldn’t help but accept everyone’s help. You had been laying in bed and hated having to stay in one spot for such a long time. Maidens would bring you food and medicine but all the while keeping you from getting up. Luckily you were quite clever. You had told them you were going to bed and asked them to leave you in peace. You needed a moment to yourself in the fresh air, you waited in the bed until you heard them close the doors and snuff out the rest of the candles making the room only illuminated by the moonlight. You stood up and felt the cold floor against your bare feet as you put on a fairly warm robe, you climbed one of the thin pillars of the room and down the tree leading you to a small walkway in between the trees. You smiled to yourself for finally being out of that stuffy room but soon it was followed by coughing.
You muffled the sound with your hand as you slowly walked down the path. You noticed above you a few tree branches curved and bent enough for you to walk up. You managed to reach the top of the treeline. Feeling the cool night air against your face made you sigh in bliss as you curled your toes feeling the wood beneath you as you leaned your back to feel secure. You felt your breathing become easier as you held your robe close to you. The cold against the warmth coursing through your body made you feel strange but at peace. Your eyes started to become heavy as you feel your eyes flutter and the last sight you saw was the full moon high above the trees with the stars following behind.
You felt your body jerk awake as you started to cough once more. You opened your eyes to see the full moon had moved a bit, clearly an hour or so had passed. But even more strange you felt your body slightly warmer than before. You didn’t feel the rough wood against your back and instead felt low breathing as if someone were asleep. You turned your head to see your suspicions were right. It was Haldir, the MarchWarden. The one elf you had your sights set on and here he was asleep with his arms around your small frame. You honestly weren’t sure what to do, should you wake him up or just fall back asleep in his arms. You sighed as you brought a hand to his shoulder and gently shook him. He grumbled a little as his eyes opened to reveal beautiful blue eyes and in the moonlight, you could easily mistake them for the brightest and fairest of stars. You saw him bring a hand to the back of his neck adjusting it but once he sight was set on you he paused. He looked at you at gave a small smirk.
“Ah, so you finally decided to wake.”
You pouted your lips as you crossed your arms and turned your head away from him.
“Well...Y...You didn’t have to stay.”
He chuckled as you felt his hand on your shoulder bringing you closer to him. You noticed his cloak was on your back, he must have put it on to keep you warm. You couched once more and you could see Haldir’s with a worried expression as he brought a hand to your back lightly patting you. You felt a little weak as you pulled his cloak around you even tighter.
“Perhaps you should get some rest.”
You sighed. As much as you loved the fresh air you knew you couldn’t stay outside for too long. You nodded your head as you tried standing up but you felt your body get picked up in his arms. You felt a small blush on your cheeks as couldn’t help but stare at him. He looked down at you and seeing your face turn red he brought a hand to your forehead.
“Your fever seems to be gone, are you feeling alright?”
You sighed as you brought your hand onto his chest and rested your head against his shoulder. You felt him stand up and gently walking down the tree branches. You felt your body becoming more relaxed as you felt him walking into your room. You felt the softness of the bed below you as he gently placed you down and placed the blanket over you. You moved onto your side to see Haldir placing a hand once more on your forehead. You smiled at his touch as he returned a smile to you. You saw him stand up and started to walk away from you as you quickly grabbed his hand making him stop in his tracks looking down at your hand.
“Please...Stay with me. It would make me feel better.”
He looked slightly shocked but soon a huge smile came across his face as he removed his quiver and bow and gently laid down next to you. You felt him holding your hand close to his heart. Every beat of his heart made you feel at peace.
He asked as he looked down at you. You nodded as you started to fall asleep.
A few moments of silence passed before you felt enough strength in you to speak once more.
Haldir moved slightly and spoke in a gentle tone as he looked down at you.
You felt a gentle kiss on your temple as he wrapped an arm around your shoulders bringing you closer together. Soon he started you trail off to sleep and soon he too fell asleep. Throughout the entire night and early morning, you slept in peace. Once morning came the maids entered and quickly got out of the room at the sight of seeing the two of you asleep together. For the rest of the day, the two of you stayed like that until late into the night as he started to take care of you until you felt better.
