grace and simon have such a crazy dynamic when you think about it they're childhood friends they're co cult leaders they love each other they hate each other it's them against the world they're each other's only friends she loves him like a brother he idolizes her so much that his love looped around to entitlement they bring out the worst in each other they would kill for each other they would die for each other they've saved each other's lives more times than they can count they're always in competition with each other they have years of inside jokes one always thinks they're better than the other they trust each other more than anybody else they don't trust each other at all he killed somebody because it's what he thought she would want she doesn't care about his fantasy novel he was the first member of her cult she informed his entire worldview he tossed her aside when she started to grow away from him she wants to change he wants things to stay the same forever she tried to save him he tried to kill her but she's the only one that lived in the end
