Managed to finish this~

He's been simplified a little bit, but otherwise, it's the same ol' Carol. (I actually just kinda forgot about his plushie on his belt, but it was mostly for decoration anyway.)

Carousel Soldier V. 2.0

Some process sketches trying to redesign that Carousel Solider. I was more in love with the concept of that toy than I was the actual design, so I decided to change him up quite a bit. I still really liked the design of his hat and shawl(?), but I went for a more “nutcracker” design for his uniform.

I’m still experimenting with him, but I think he’s more or less become an original design now.

Just a Handful of Miis I Made in Miitopia

Nintendo continues to disappoint me with a lack of curly hair options, but at least they made the best new feature totally free to use~

Here’s a hot tip: If you want to duplicate a mii with make up, you just need to assign that Mii to multiple roles in the same category (like the set of 4 castle soldiers) and Miitopia will generate an extra of them. This is helpful if you want to make characters with similar features without having to recreate them by hand, like with my 1010s here.

I learned this too late, so all of their cheek placements are slightly different, but it’s also why “Cyber Boi” appears after Neon J. despite me making him before J. (I just deleted the “original” Cyber Boi since the later one is the one I’m using to fill a role.

Doodle Dump (OC + NSR Edition)

There weren’t enough NSR sketches in the backlog to give them their own post, so I’m putting my OC doodles in there too.

Notes under the cut:

1-3) Various doodles of my v-tuber sona. I dunno, I just got really attached this design. It’s cute, right?

4-5) A Carol and some Princes Formerly Known as Frog. I’ve played with the idea of PFKaF having a more kigurumi-esque costume that just occasionally opens its mouth to show is real face, but I dunno.

6) “Same Coat”. Based on the “Same Hat” meme that you can still clearly see underneath the sketch. I started this around the time I made the “Observation” post, but I didn’t finish it in time for it to still be relevant to the post. But I might give it a second try on twitter since I can just put all three of them together.

7-8) “Well J, this is exactly what I pictured your band would look like!”

9) Reactions to a bigger project I’m working on. You can probably guess what they’re reacting to, but I’ll keep it a secret for now until I actually finish it.

Carol Sketches

I know y’all don’t give a damn about my OCs, but I gotta at least try to give a damn for myself, so I’m gonna try to draw them a bit more. I hope that by posting my bad sketches (like I do for everything else) it’ll help motivate me to do that.

Carol has gone through a couple of iterations in my time drawing him, mostly by softening his features, but that’s not what he’s really about. After reflecting on my 2020 summary of art, I decided to try and go back to the design I liked a lot, which really just means keeping some of the angular features of his face. And what do you know, I like drawing him a lot more now.

That first page was my first attempt at redrawing him with this design, and he came out way too tall >m<;. He’s supposed to be on the shorter side, but ah well. I’m sure I’ll get more consistent the more I draw him.
