Ashes to Ashes // a Gene Hunt fanmix
You and Hollie are making me want to watch this show.
I assume you’re talking about Ashes to Ashes? :D
The only thing I can say is; you won’t be disappointed! (maybe after some heartbreak caused by this series, but other than that.. ;) )
Hollie got me into it, and well, here we are :P. I'm really glad I started watching, and not just for the amazing 80s soundtrack that goes along with the series, ha! ;)
For the meme: Death in Paradise :P
Yay! :D OK.. prepare! :P

Victimising himself, in this case, could mean just the series of events that unfolded - an example if he hadn't pushed Ophelia away she wouldn't have killed herself leaving him with a broken heart...however if his mother hadn't shacked up with his uncle before he had time to even grieve his fathers death he would be more trusting of women and not have pushed Ophelia away. So I say it's a bit of both, he put himself in the circumstances that made him a victim because...of other circumstances :)
I see your point. I think Ophelia’s death plays a relatively small part in his final decline, though. He’s already stopped loving her by the time she dies and he’s mostly stricken with guilt when he learns of her death. His lavish display of grief at her grave is more about competition with Laertes, I think, and, perhaps, compensation for a guilty conscience. But I do agree that his mother shacking up with his uncle played a big part in him stopping loving her in the first place.
Replies - everything under the cut spoilerwise etc ;)

SAME SAME SAME. SOBBING.
ETERNAL SOBBING! But for real though of all the things that happened and didn't happen... Cyber!Brig may be my favourite thing in this episode. Together with Kate being still alive. To at least have some happy/bittersweet ish moments. Amidst all the emotional chaos that was the entire last part of this episode, ugh.

yesyesyes!,the writing! like sometimes i sat there like WHAT THE EVERLASTING FUCK?!, and sometimes i was like 'jesus this is so cheesy, ugh' ... well it's over now and i am so sorry for clara and twelve
This episode was all over the place. It definitely had some good moments, but I'm also quite on the fence about, well, a lot. Maybe if the episode had been a bit longer, it may have felt less crowded? Of course that doesn't take away the overall storyline, but they may have had some time to not horribly rush things in the last 10-ish minutes.
And what was up with the Doomsday copy of Danny calling out to Clara? I still liked the scene, but it was a bit too similar, up until the point of how they had that shot of Clara in her bed, being called by Danny.
..and Danny being merely brought into this series to be killed off so soon. Ugh. And more ugh. HE COULD HAVE BEEN SO MUCH MORE! DESERVED SO MUCH MORE!
So.. yeah. I don't even know anymore...
