What does this entail?

Draw a skeleton hand! On your hand!

This can be with henna, gel-pens, glitter pens, felt-tip, brush pens, markers, etc.

The skeleton hand drawing MUST consist of all phalanges, metacarpals, carpals, and the beginnings of the radius and ulna.

You do not have to be good at art. You only have to draw BONES

You do not have to draw on both hands.

You may do other parts of the skeleton, if you so choose and if you will not be punished for it by the people around you. Examples of other bone options include the mandible and surrounding facial bones, small quantities of spinal discs, the patella and bones below it, etc.

I will be writing the Skeleton Song eventually and listening is most certainly optional for all participants

Arm Bones

Humerus -- “funny bone” -- upper arm bone

Radius -- lower arm bone on the thumb side

Ulna -- larger bone of the lower arm -- contains projection called olecranon process at upper end -- olecranon process forms the elbow

Carpals -- wrist -- eight bones on each hand

Metacarpals -- form the palm -- five bones on each hand

Phalanges -- form fingers -- 14 bones on each hand

Carpal Bones and Tarsal Bones

Hello Everyone!

I was having difficulty remembering all the different names for the carpal and tarsal bones so I decided to draw out the bones myself and label them. Although I think I am more familiar with some of them I will still have to study them quite a bit. I am technically on my mid-semester break right now but I have various uni things that I plan on completing over this break.

hi guys! wanted to give you guys a bone review, so today I’m doing the carpals!! the carpals are the bones of your wrist; there are eight. the easiest way to remember their order is this jingle: 

So Long To Pinky, Here Comes The Thumb

Scaphoid, Lunate, Triquetral, Pisiform (bottom row, right to left in anatomical position)

Hamate, Capitate, Trapezoid, Trapezium (top row, left to right) 

here are some helpful tips for identifying and siding!

Scaphoid  

Articulations: capitate, radius, lunate, trapezium 

Looks like a snail  

When the concavity is facing toward you, the tubercle rises in the side that it is

Lunate "the moon"

Articulations: capitate, radius, scaphoid, triquetral, hamate  

With concavity toward you, articular facet is on the side it's from

Triquetral  

Articulations: pisiform, hamate, lunate 

Hold the "pinchable" common border.. The pisiform facet rises to the side it's from 

Pisiform "the pea"

Articulations: triquetral  *almost impossible to side

Trapezium  

Articulations: scaphoid, trapezoid, MC I, MC II 

Tubercle/crest facing you and distal "(aim the crossbow")

Groove aside the "eyepiece" is on side it's from 

Trapezoid "the boot"

Articulations: scaphoid, trapezium, MC II, capitate 

With "zipper" facing you.. The toe points to the side it's from 

Capitate "darth vader"

Articulations: scaphoid, hamate, MC II, MC III, lunate, trapezoid 

Face" is convex, concave "helmet" sets on the side the bone is from 

Hamate  

Articulations: triquetral, capitate, MC IV, MC V, lunate 

When pointy side is facing you, flip up, which way the hook is is the side it’s from
