Fitness to the Test: PUG Workout of the Day, Challenge Yourself!
When I started my fitness journey the first thing I did was look up other fitness and healthy living related blogs. I wanted a more personal view/understanding of how other people live healthy lives and maintain balance without becoming fitness obessesed and preachy. The first one I found was called Carrots and Cake. Three years later my favorite fitness/healthy living blogs is still Carrots n Cake by Tina H. She keeps it real, has a real life, but still has a bangin' body (sorry if that sounded creepy but it is true).
She is now a self-proclaimed Crossfit addict. Since she has health issues she is taking a break from Crossfit and makes up her own version of Crossfit's Workout of the Day (commonly known as WOD).
I take her home WOD as a personal fitness challenge! Why not try it!
I CAN'T WAIT for FitBloggin!
Seriously, I CAN'T WAIT! I was lucky enough to join for FitBloggin last year and I'm so excited to join again this year.
Last year, I was still on the cusp of deciding whether or not starting a blog was right for me. The sessions were really informative and fun at the same time! Plus there were tons of workouts! Last year, the FitBloggin 5K was one of the first races I ran in my new running kick...now, one year later, I've run 8 already this year (including a half marathon) AND I'm obviously blogging! haha
Last year I also had the opportunity to meet some amazing people. I had followed but was so excited to meet some in person like Eating Bird Food, MizFitOnline, RunEatRepeat, CarrotsNCake, FitBottomedGirl and many more! Seriously, you ladies (& men) were all so amazing to meet and hang out with!
This year, there's SO many people I'm dying to catch up with and meet! JustKeepSweating, BurningBabiFat, PFG_dawn & more! Definitely let me know if you're going - I want to meet up!
There are also some amazing sponsors coming this year! I learned about & received some really cool products last year like Dr. Praegers (which I have since then been obsessed with) and Attune Foods...And I always have fun when Popchips is involved. :)
Anyway, get ready. I'll be posting a lot live from the event! Woo hoo! FitBloggin here I come!
Being Happy For Others
I once heard, though of course I don't know where, that we should be voraciously happy for others and their accomplishments instead of envious. I struggle with this, since for the life of me I can't seem to get into whatever it is my dream career would be, but I know I feel better, not worse, when I celebrate the successes of others.
Ashley at Edible Perspective just got a book deal. I am so, so happy for her.
Tina at Carrotsncake said how much she loves her job, and I remember when she was struggling to figure out what to do, too. I'm thrilled she's found a peaceful place.
Dallas and Melissa Hartwig and their whole team at the Whole9 have a life that seems pretty incredible to me. Traveling, speaking, educating, reaching out, some freedom in work hours and days. That sounds amazing and I'm happy for them.
What am I destined to do? If I do "nothing special," does it matter?
I want to help people. I want to continue to travel. I want to be a mom. Most of all, I just want to find joy every day, instead of being grumpy and thinking I can't have it because I haven't found my dream career yet. Why not be happy first?
