I'm not a fucking coward, so I'll ask this off anon: More pussy posting, please.
Hey! If I control a Barrow Ghoul, in order to meet its triggered ability requirement, does the top card of my graveyard HAVE to be a creature, or do I exile the the topmost creature in my graveyard? Thank you very much.
The “top creature card in your graveyard” is the topmost creature card of all creature cards in your graveyard, ignoring cards of other types.
Note that if you’re playing with cards like Barrow Ghoul that care about graveyard order, you won’t be able to reorder your graveyard at all unless a card instructs you to do so.
What cards would you say are so absolute *musts* for a reanimator deck? (In any colors)
To be honest, there are no cards that I think must be in a deck. Every deck is different and has different needs. However, there are a number of classes of cards that I’d like you to consider. There are four:
1) Cards that put things in your graveyard. These are your Satyr Wayfinders, your Cephalid Brokers, your dredge and your Buried Alives. Fuel your graveyard and fill it with nonsense. Entomb is certainly your most powerful asset here.
2) Cards that get things out of your graveyard. Your Dread Returns, your Reanimates, your Animate Deads. These put the animate in the reanimator, obviously, so you’ll want some of these. Things that are creatures that do this are even better cause they just do double duty. Karmic Guide, for example.
3) Cards to get out of or to use from your graveyard. Obviously you’ll want some strong stompy cards to get out of the graveyard. Iona, Vorinclex, any Demon, Leviathan, or Dragon. But also consider cards that you want to keep in the graveyard or cards with flashback. Anger, Wonder, Faithless Looting, and so on.
4) Lastly, the most overlooked part perhaps, you want some emergency ways to get things back in your deck. Everyone I know runs a Bojuka Bog or Tormod’s Crypt or similar if you can. Have a way to dump a Gaia’s Blessing or an Ulamog into your graveyard to shuffle everything in, or maybe an Elixir of Immortality sitting on the table. Your reanimator deck is utterly useless if you have no deck to play with!

Just join the Imperials, dang.
absolutely not their armor is ugly
Personally, Mark, I think the "discard or cycle" templating would have been better served with reminder text that said "cycling causes you to discard."
We tried it. Turns out people skip reading reminder text if they think they know how a card works.
If there were two girls on the moon, and they gave each other a little smooch, would that be cute as hell or naw?
that would be so cute and fucked up and crazy...how would they do it tho their helmets r in the way...
Mark, how would you design a mechanic that needs to thematically feel like lying? I've been working on my own set (Thank you Nuts & Bolts!) with a theme of deception, but I just can't nail down a mechanic that feels right.
I would try a bluffing mechanic.
