Trouble|| Amity & Carson

Amity was in for it now. She had been careful, she thought. All of her bottles were locked away and nothing seemed amiss. Caden never got into her things, and he never questioned why she had to leave sometimes. She kept her business life completely separate from the one she was trying to have with Carson, and that was hard enough. Meeting up at each others' apartments, cleaning on Fridays out of habit, taking the kids to school...it seemed more like a friendship, but Amity needed to have that distance right now. She had to work her way up to something more touchy feely. Not that there was a lack of touching or feelings. One night though something was very off. She found herself running down the sidewalk with Caden cradled in her arms, a desperate look on her face. She knew which fire escape to climb, which window to open. It was always the same and Carson kept it unlocked. "CARSON! Carson are you home!?"

It was just outside of a coffee shop when Cam spotted one of the creepiest instructors at his college. Acting quickly, he approached the closest guy he could find. "Could you pretend to know me for, like, eight seconds? Thanks." The brunette began to play with his hair and laugh as if they were int he middle of a riveting conversation, glancing behind the poor casualty as his instructor walked by. Once the middle aged man had strode past without exchanging a word he breathed a sigh of relief.

"Sorry about that. Creepy teachers are the worst," Cam explained.

Deal || Cam & Carson

It was easy to sort out the the dealers from the consumers, the users and the pristines, the fun ones from the monotonous in this environment. From any sort of environment. Whether it be a bar or a club or an alley. But, at this moment, it was a a sort of 'underground' place for the artsy crowd. Every club was the same, though. It was easy to recall, easy to dissect and place back together again. Especially if you memorized it like your own form. Every dark place, every dip and curve and ugly crevice, Cam knew it all. 

So he approached the tall, young-ish man with the brunette hair and deep eyes with gusto. "Hey there~" The blonde song like a canary, turning on potential charm. "Haven't seen you around here before."

Amity & Carson

Just a little over a year ago, Amity wouldn't have imagined going out of the house in sunlight, as though she were some sort of vampire. She would wait until the sun dipped behind the city skyline to venture out of her small apartment, just after her son went to bed, bottles in a backpack. It was completely irresponsible to leave him alone in an apartment, but she had no choice. She was never gone long, anyway. Now...now she was trying to be different. The model mother, at least to her standards. She didn't have a great example of this growing up, as her mother was sometimes quite avoidant when it came to her children. Amity got by, though. She made sure her son had food, clothing, and paid her bills as best as she could. As far as she knew, the three year old was happy and healthy. Her? She was getting by. Some nights were better than others, and the mirrors told her she still wasn't completely out of this part of her life. Permanent scars, small bruises that liked to linger...covered easily in a sweatshirt and jeans, although it was eighty degrees out today. She wasn't planning on being out long, though. She just needed to pick Caden up from daycare and stop at the store for cigarettes. She couldn't afford this sort of thing before. Now that she was taking in a bit more money, it was easier to give him a starting education while she dealt with her own demons. He didn't need to see that. But she didn't know how much longer she would be able to afford it. Her income was never guaranteed. But she would do her best, because she needed to do right by her son. It wasn't just about her anymore, and it never would be.

The kids were indeed asleep, their respective bedroom doors shut tight to keep out any noise that Amity would have made on her own. Rattling around in the kitchen, watching tv, all of that. But now she wasn't alone and she wasn't quite sure what she was supposed to...do. By now she'd have a glass of wine in hand and would be laying on the couch staring at the ceiling, the cat on her middle. But now Carson was here and that didn't feel right. "I uh...are you hungry? I have beer in the fridge too. I don't really drink it but uh...I got it just in case you came back."
