hiii can i request something angsty with carol and daryl? reader gets shot out on a run.
I’ll Be Okay
Carol and Daryl X G/n!reader – Angst
Tw: Character death, blood
A/n: finally after 4-5 months, I get this out, I wrote this in school so yerpee, I CANNOT STRESS ENOUGH TO READ THE TRIGGER WARNING
could you write a caryl baby fic or mini prompt just them raising a baby
Sorry for the long wait. Here's a revised draft of something I did a while back.
We Can’t Keep Her
Carol’s expression is vacant, but focused. A baby wails from somewhere close by, the frequency getting higher and higher until it finally snaps Carol out of her trance. She takes out her knife and steadies it against a dead woman’s temple, pushing it in slowly, tenderly.
Daryl watches Carol from across the room, a newborn in his arms. It’s like he’s torn between the two of them, wanting to tend to both at the same time. Not being able to, he chooses the loudest.
Daryl: Sssh, it’s alright. Gonna be alright.
He waits for the crying to stop before shifting his attention back to Carol, who’s still kneeling beside the baby’s mother.
Daryl: Need to find formula. I could stay here with her if–
Carol: We need to find her family. This woman couldn’t have been out here all alone.
Daryl: We’ll try. ‘Course we will. But right now we gotta focus on keepin’ her little girl alive.
Carol: We can’t keep her.
Her tone is insistent. Daryl treads lightly.
Daryl: Know we didn’t ask for this, but she ain’t a stray dog. If we gotta–
Carol: We can’t.
Her eyes finally reveal the pain Daryl recognizes far too easily. He wants to say something, anything, to make it go away, but the baby starts fussing again.
Daryl: We’ll get you some food, sweetheart. Real soon, I promise.
Carol searches for a distraction and when it becomes apparent the only eye-catching things in the tiny shack are Daryl with the baby and a dead mother in a pool of her own blood, she chooses Daryl, studying him very closely. He seems so comfortable with her, ready to do anything for her.
Carol: You go get the formula. I’ll take her.
Daryl: You sure?
Carol: It’ll be faster if you take the bike.
Daryl looks reluctant. Carol holds out her arms, assuring him she can handle it. When he finally makes the transfer, he steps back to give them some space, watching Carol’s smile grow. He almost doesn’t want to leave them, enjoying the view too much.
My thoughts on Carol and Daryl's relationship since #AngelaKang took over and where they go from here...
(sorry, it's long)
The episode that caused D0nnie fans to celebrate is also the same episode that completely sunk the ship. Bonds. It's way more than "It's not like that." It's the fact that AK explained that the ONLY reason Carol was pushing Daryl toward Connie is because:
- Carol is the one and ONLY person who kept him tethered to the group. That's why he was fine staying out in the woods (She had her own family), and why he came back as soon as her SON explained to Daryl that she needed him back.
- As much as she doesn't think she's good for Daryl, she recognizes that she's his tether to the group, she doesn't plan to survive, and she wants to find a good person who will take care of him when she's gone. But how weird would it be if she was like, "Hey...Laura could be good for you. You should consider that.", when we never saw him bond with Laura? They needed to establish a bond between him and Connie, and she was the PERFECT one to do that with, because she's an absolute angel of a person and LR has chemistry with EVERYONE. Connie is a character that it's impossible not to like.
If you relate AK's comments to everything we've seen so far and what we know of the spinoff, what it says to me is "Carol wants Daryl to be with Connie if she's no longer around. IF she's no longer around."
But now she's not planning on going anywhere, and she's ready to move forward as Daryl's life partner, whether the life partnership is platonic or romantic. They're a unit. A package deal. Carol just didn't realize that before, because she didn't see herself as being able to fill that role."
When Carol freaked out after the cave blew up, she said (paraphrasing) "You cared about her and I took her from you". That all happened because she had just tried to kill herself while taking out the horde. She failed in killing herself in a way that protected the group, but she also thought she killed the person she hoped would keep Daryl close after she was gone. She was faced with her absolute worst fear: losing Daryl due to either not being able to protect him or due to her royally fucking up in a way that hurt him. That's the whole reason she escaped before. Because of Daryl and her fears surrounding losing or disappointing him.
He hadn't let her escape back to the boat, and it resulted in her having to grapple with her worst fear - losing him.
He tried to save her and it resulted in him having to grapple with his worst fear - losing her.
Fortunately they didn't permanently lose each other. But it's worth noting that their worst fears are confirmed by their extreme reactions. We've seen Daryl terrified once and ONLY once. When he realized that Carol was about to kill herself. That look on his face isn't remotely close to anything we've ever seen from him.
Carol's meltdown immediately after the cave wasn't remotely close to anything we've seen from her before.
Neither one knows when to stop. Carol with her running away and acting alone, and Daryl with his constant need to go after her (convincing her to not get back on the boat).
They can't lose each other. It's their worst fear. And because they've now come dangerously close to it happening, the only way they can move forward is to acknowledge that fear to the other person, acknowledge *each other's* fear of it, sort out all the feelings that surround it, and make the decision to move forward together as partners, fully cognizant of the truth behind all their fears and motivations.
We know that this very last part is happening. That's already canon. But as is typical with many fictional storylines, the characters don't know this yet. And this is why we haven't gotten that heart to heart yet. Because when they finally expose that honesty to each other, when they finally acknowledge that they're truly life partners and why, it's going to completely change their relationship- in a good way. If you go back and watch all of their scenes throughout all 11 years, you'll notice how they're so obviously holding things back from each other. They don't lie to each other (other than Daryl in 710 and Carol in 10A, but they had their reasons). They're not dishonest, but it's just so obvious that there's a barrier there that they haven't broken down yet. The tension is always palpable. Always.
As much as it sucks for them to keep dragging this out, it's terrifying from the showrunning perspective to finally make such a popular ship canon. They essentially have to fix something that isn't broke, which is also why they had to kind of break them in the first place if that makes any sense. People have fanned over Caryl for 11 years. But is much of that because people love angst and speculation? When that's removed, will people still love Caryl just as much? Will fan fiction still be written? Will die hard Carylers finally after getting what we want see them being intimate and think, "omg this is too weird and different. I'm suddenly uncomfortable."?
Richonne, prior to it happening, didn't have that same MASSIVE, angsty, protect-them-at-all-costs fanbase. There was WAY less risk if it didn't work out. Caryl going canon is so huge that it's almost as severe as them changing the genre of the show. They want it, they know the fans want it, but how do they go about it in a way that respects their 11 years of history, and doesn't leave room for them to become "stale"? They tear them apart and then bring them back together as a couple as close to their spinoff as possible.
It sucks, but it's typical from a TV standpoint, and the fears are extremely valid, even if we don't see them as being valid.
That said, they can still put them together as early as 10B and still give them angst. There's ways to do it. Perhaps them leaving starts off in a way that it looks like one of them is going to have to leave and one will have to stay. Im just theorizing here. They could very well make canon happen in 11B and give them nothing but happiness and rainbows, for all we know.
As for Leah, as dumb as it might sound, I think her purpose served not just to get Daryl drawing comparisons between his only romance on the show and the love of his life, but also to prepare the audience in a way. "See? Daryl's capable of this. But we're not going to show him being as physically intimate with her as we've seen him be with Carol. But we'll let you know that stuff happened between him and a woman that looks like Carol, because that's what's coming and you better start accepting it now."
I have badly managed ADHD. I'm NOT good at expressing myself without unnecessary rambling. But I just wanted to share my thoughts on how I look at everything, and I hope at least some of it makes sense. If you made it to the end, you're a saint. lol.

Question
Okay, so which one of you all on 9 lives is really Angela Kang?
A/N: Okay so I apologise in advance, this wasn’t something that was requested but this idea has been in mind for ages and after the most recent episode I feel like now is a good time to write it. For a brief overview it’s Carol bringing Daryl back around from his darker side that’s recently come back around.
Also sorry if this isn’t very well written, my brain is like soup lately and nothing seems to be coming out the way I’d envisioned...anywayyyys, enjoy!
@equuleus86 tagging you girl just to tell you I did it!xox
“He killed him.”
“Morales?”
“Yeah, and a saviour too. Couldn’t’ve been much older than Carl, if that.”
Carol’s gaze fell to the hunter of topic, aggressively sharpening his knife making small grunts from his effort.
“He’s out for blood,” Rick told Carol, worried for the mentality of the man he’d come to consider his brother. “He’s not thinkin’ rationally. Hell, I don’t know if he’s thinking at all if all he can see is red.”
Carol nodded knowingly, most of them had all been in that position one at point or another. Anger makes you stupid, stupid gets you killed.
“I’ll talk to him soon,” she promised, Rick troubled face easing a bit at Carol’s words.
“If anyone can make him see sense it’s you,” Rick said thankfully, squeezing her shoulder gently before going to join the others marking up where their next attack would be.
Carol spent the day observing Daryl, noting his stoic harsh demeanour seemed to drop whenever they were in contact with one another. He had this thing he did where his voice changed to a softer gruff tone when he spoke to her, and it wasn’t the first time she’d noticed it either. Maybe Rick was right, maybe she could get through to him.
It was that evening, when she noticed him pacing back and forth the watch tower like a caged tiger that she decided to make her move.
He nodded once towards her as she clambered up the ladder, watching him silently as he continued to walk back and forth the small walkway.
“You’re restless.”
“Damn right I am. Don’t like waitin’ ‘round, need ta move in on them ‘fore they move in on us.”
“Daryl, they’re not in a position to move in on us right now. They’re camping out, waiting for us to come to them and we will, when we’re ready.”
Daryl gnawed down on his thumb irately, he didn’t want to wait any longer, he wanted them dead and he wanted them dead now.
“And then I ain’t gon’ stop ‘til their all dead,” he muttered darkly.
He was scaring her. Not in the sense that she feared him but more she feared for him. There was a hollowness in his eyes, deep angry lines etched into his features that she hadn’t seen since the farm.
“They don’t all have to die.” Her voice was soft, trying desperately to get through to him, to that softer side of him that didn’t believe everyone was a monster.
“They do!” he snarled, his southern accent coming through hot and heavy as he flung his arm away from his face. “Every last fucking one of them!”
“That’s not who we are,” Carol argued, her voice calm but matching the same volume as his.
“The hell to what we were!” Daryl growled, breaking back into his furious pacing once again, continuing his rant. “We get soft on them then more’ve us’re jus’ gon’ die! We execute them all, don’t care if I have ta do it myself one by fuckin’ one.”
She could hear the pain laced in his voice behind the anger. He was still hurting from the loss of their family members, fuelling that hurt into blind hatred.
“Do you hear yourself? This is how you go about getting yourself killed Daryl.”
“Be damn worth it too,” he snapped back as he paced towards her before spinning back on his heel again.
“Don’t talk like that...are you listening to me Daryl? They aren’t worth your life.” Carol could feel herself getting riled up, sometimes it was like getting blood from a stone with him.
“The hell does it matter?!” he yelled, his accent causing his loud voice to become gravelly.
Carol took a few steps towards him as he gradually got louder and louder, his pacing becoming quicker as he walked away from her.
“I mean it. They’re gon’ pay for what they’ve done, what they’ve taken from us!”
He stopped dead when he turned back around, Carol’s hands placed lightly on his chest to stop him from moving any further.
“Take a breath,” she told him quietly, tilting her head so it was level with his.
“I can’t-” Daryl paused as he let out a stuttered breath. “I can’t let them take anymore from us, no more than they already have. I’m gonna kill Negan. I’m gonna make it goddamn slow and goddamn fuckin’ painful.
“I get it, I do. We all want to kill Negan. But you’ve gotta let that anger go now, because it’s tearing you up inside.”
Carol watched as Daryl’s face contorted in disagreement. “My anger’ll be gone what that son’ve bitch is bleedin’ out, beggin for me ta-”
She couldn’t listen to any more. She hoped his pent up energy could be taken out on something else. Something like what she was about to do.
Taking her chances she slid one hand to the back of his neck, reaching up on her tiptoes the same time she craned his head downwards, crashing her lips against his with desperation.
She was pleased he took the bait, much quicker than she’d expected in fact, his lips parting against hers, calloused hands curling around the swell of her hips.
“Just let it go Daryl,” she murmured softly against his mouth, gasping when he backed her up against the railing, kissing her like his life depended on it.
Of all the times she’d imagined kissing him, this was not how she’d envisioned it happening. Although not that she was complaining, he was warm and willing, hands gently caressing the contours of her body, tongue yielding against hers.
Finally when she felt that inconvenient need for air, she pulled back just an inch, their lips skimming one another with each bated breath they took.
Her hands found purchase on his jaw, thumbs smoothing the rough stubble that was overdue for a shave, looking up so her eyes were boring into his.
“I need you to be level headed. I need you alive. You can’t be as reckless as you’re being. I don’t care if I’m being selfish. I need you. Period.”
