"She showed up in Solaz, out of the blue...like a dream"
Daryl is still the Daryl we fell in love with.
Daryl has always been the one who is the ZA patron saint of lost causes. Sure, sometimes he might need a little reminding, but he always comes through at the end.
"Daryl has his code and the world needs more men like that."
It’s no secret here, I’m a positive Caryler but guess what? You shouldn’t listen to me about the spin-off. (Stay with me here…)
Also those who don’t like the spin-off or have negative things to say about it? You shouldn’t listen to them about the spin-off.
Hell even those who said they stopped watching years ago … You shouldn’t listen to them about the spin-off.
What should you do?
Watch the show for yourself because no one is gonna know what is right for you or how you feel more than you do. Afterwards, if you have feeling about it OFC you’re more than capable to express them + converse to your hearts content. But making up your mind based on what someone else says is like getting the news from Ticktock…
Still Here, Still Caryling
Okay, first of all, been an interesting year for me personally. Had a big health scare in the spring which involved a hospitalization with some surgery. It's all resolved now, I am in a much better space health wise now and still moving forward. It helped me put things in perspective in all things related to Caryl.
I am still ride or die Caryl, but I have been enjoying Season 3 immensely. To be submerged into the Spanish culture has been an added bonus and the cast are all wonderful actors. I am realitively spoiler free (I do know a few things, but to quote Norman from earlier TWD history, "I am unphased by that") It's been very helpful to have @lola-andheruniverse to counsel me on things I have found troubling and it's given me a much better understanding of the show this season. I still think Caryl is endgame, yes even with the show commentary and with interviews I have read.
What I'm not gonna do is allow parts of the Caryl fandom who disagree with my opinions of the show, to dissuade me from watching the show with my eyes wide open and to form my own opinion about how I see things. I think criticism of the show is fair, but some of the things I am seeing online are downright mean and cruel to the cast and creatives and especially the Spanish members of the cast who seem to be very excited about the show that is showing their culture and some of their history to an audience who otherwise might not see that history otherwise.
So, I know there are likely Carylers who are quietly watching and enjoying the show and feel like they are the only ones doing so. Just know this, you are not alone. There are more of us than you realize. I will ship Carol and Daryl forever, no matter what. And always remember...
Long story short:
Carol and Daryl are in love with each other but Carol is too repressed to realize it and Daryl is too burnout to put it into words.
Can't wait to see how they'll solve it. ❤️
PS: My lovely fellow carylers, if I can give you all an unrequested advice? Watch the damn show.
I haven't posted here in such a lonnnnnnng time. But 💯 percent what @lola-andheruniverse said...WATCH THE DAMN SHOW.
The reason I haven't been around is that I have been out enjoying real life and not trying to be an amateur therapist for two actors who seem very happy with the way their project is heading.
Seriously, quit infantilizing Melissa McBride. Quit making her a victim of the patriarchy when she seems to be very happy with the way things are going.
Seriously, please keep your promises to go away from the show and quit watching. But the narcissist in you (see I can quasi diagnose people as well) needs to hang around the fandom and gaslight those of us who look forward to season 3.
I will crawl back in my real-life zen and enjoy other shows and sports that I have gotten into. Know that I will never give up on Caryl, but I am on my last thread with this gatekeeping fandom.
What positive Carylers are not:
Naive/delusional
Sunshine and rainbow Positive Polly’s who see everything as glass half full people (trust me, that doesn’t describe me in ANY way lol)
Someone who must not have watched the entire series.
Stans for any particular character & pretending certain plot lines didn’t happen, because SHOCKER, 90% don’t like/love all aspects of the storylines.
What they are:
Regular people whom through their own personal experiences and POVs use critical thinking to come to a conclusion about how they see things/what things mean.
Shippers as much as anyone else even though they don’t agree or follow along with a cause.
Individuals who are entitled to have & share their feelings publicly without being told moments later in comments/tags/reshares/anonymous posts how they are wrong. (Don’t her me wrong, healthy debate is great when that is the actual intended purpose)
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion; not one has to agree on everything and it goes both ways. We should let people have their feeling’s without needing to insert our own. There’s enough toxicity in the world as it is. If you need to bolster your own opinion by putting someone else’s down, was yours really that strong?
Been watching Walking Dead for years, and took a Daryl spinoff to see Carol and Daryl as more than platonic soulmates. Reading what they are putting out it's gonna turn romantic real soon.
DARYL DIXON - THE BOOK OF CAROL 2.05 "Vouloir, C'est Pouvoir"
Apparently, no-one except dude-bros likes TWDCaryl/TBOC/Season 2 Daryl. I hate to burst that bubble for anyone who believes that, but it's simply not true. I'm not a dude-bro, and I like Daryl in season 2 of the spinoff, and from talking to other fans, I know that many other fans who aren't dude-bros also like him this season.
Are their differences in him from how he was on the main show? Yes, there are. But that isn't a bad thing, nor does it mean Daryl is out of character. For me, Daryl is not out of character, and the changes in him are realistic.
If you feel differently about Daryl this season, if you don't like this version of Daryl, that's entirely your right and is valid. But understand that we don't all feel the same way you feel and, as such, don't make sweeping statements such as "no-one likes..." that suggests that we do. Some fans see things the way you see them, while others see things how I see them, and I'm sure there's a spectrum of views in between. All are valid.
We should all be free to talk about how we feel and why and to say that we know some other people who have indicated they feel the same way we do. What we shouldn't be free to do is to make sweeping assumptions that everyone agrees with us and state that to be the case.

And yet! People STILL have not gotten how obviously the show is driving it home that Daryl did NOT feel the same. Isabelle was just a part of the journey.
Lots of carylers are pretty happy with the spin-off and excited about S3 - while exercising their critical thinking skills and retaining their right to not agree with or like all they see on their screens.
GA is enjoying the show and tuning in to watch it on cable (let's be honest, the fandom is streaming, either pirating or VPN/subscribing to AMC+).
Neutral/anti-shippers are recognizing that the narrative is, at least, pointing that is possible that Carol and Daryl love each other romantically.
It's okay to feel happy and positive about it. It's okay to praise it and share your love about it. We waited very long for this moment. We are allowed to enjoy it without justifying our feelings every single time we voice them. I am allowed to enjoy it. So are you.
Friendly reminder that a block button can clean up a tag that is being overwhelmed with posts you don't want to see or with continually negative people who couldn't read a narrative if it fell from the sky and landed on them.

If they were walking down a sidewalk next to a busy street, Daryl would take the side closest to the street.
