THE VERGER ESTATE IN THE PIG PEN is again Casa Loma Stables in Toronto, Ontario. This is where Hannibal had the same experience as pigs & he was naked! I believe this is the carriage room, next to the room of horse stalls. It has a hammered beamed high ceiling, decorative tile artwork and a foot thick wooden floor. THE VERGER ESTATE STABLES are actually The Casa Loma Stables in Toronto, Ontario. The northern part of Casa Loma consists of a Hunting Lodge, Potting Shed, Greenhouses and Stables. Construction began in 1905, designed by Toronto architect E.J. Lennox. This magnificent structure was built for Sir Henry Pellat and his wife Mary; they used this in 1906 as a temporary residence while the main structure Casa Loma was being built across the street (1911-1913). A very interesting fact about the stables; they were used by the ASDIC (Anti-Submarine Detection Investigation Committee) from 1941-1945 for their invention, an early form of sonar. This sonar could detect a U-boat at a distance of 8km. They worked in secret; it wasn't until well after the war that any of this was revealed.
