After a rebuild (new cooler as well as case fan re-arranging) and a cable tidy, I have now moved my rig on my desk rather than under it. I'm installing windows onto my new super-duper mSata SSD and will hope get every set up and ready to install my new AMD 580 whenever that arrives

Fan Replacement
I conquered my MS and replaced the bad fan in my workstation this afternoon! It’s nice to not have that bad fan bugging me all the time and dreading having to replace it. My soldering job wasn’t the best; but it’s only 12V DC, so I think it will do just fine. My hands were shaking so bad and my vision so poor that I am quite amazed and grateful that I was able to get it done. There was a touchy moment when I didn’t think I was going to be able to get the shrink-wrap tubing to slide back over my less-than-optimal soldering job; but I was finally able to get it to fit. In the end it actually looks pretty darn professional—my soldering job neatly hidden by the shrink-wrap tubing. I also took the opportunity to install my new 3 TB backup disk.
My workstation is all reassembled, everything is cleaned up, the tools put away and the system is up and running right now. I am now exhausted! It wasn’t exactly hard work but my MS makes even the simplest chores taxing. Good grief—I used to do this stuff all day, every day.
Now that all three of my case fans are running optimally I was able to dial down the fan speed to make my studio quieter. I am formatting the new backup disk while I update my blog. Only 4% finished—I think the format is going to take awhile…
