(hoping people who don't want to be spoiled have looked away)

the final jeweler richard volume's cover is finally out. just look at them. i might cry.

and the emotional whiplash is obviously stronger when you look at the first volume's cover and process the differences

richard's expression particularly - stiff and guarded, turning into a smile that's soft and genuine, but most of all, content. like the weight he was carrying and the things he was protecting himself against have finally fallen away. things he never thought would happen have come to fruition. now all that's left is seigi, by his side even 10 years later, but he's now his husband. look at him showing off that ring!

(i know he's holding a gem in his hand, but i'm still convinced he's just happy at his long game of pining after this clueless man has come to an end. now seigi is his forever and ever. and he won't ever have to share with him with anyone else).

and seigi, of course. he's grown into himself. he knows the position he has in people's lives, and is grateful for it. he carries out his responsibilities, and is wanted by so many people. but he now has realised and acted upon his feelings for richard. which have always been difficult to define, whether out of genuine confusion initially and fear and insecurity later on. i see the case files of jeweler richard, in part, as a queer coming-of-age story about seigi. he accepts his romantic love for richard at the end of the series and is ready to face their future together.

they're married! not because it necessarily means anything on paper (unfortunately), but to show the world that they are each other's most precious person.

the case files of jeweler richard has been a beautiful and emotional series, and i'm so sad it's ending. seigi and richard will live on forever in my heart.

luckily, it's not time to say goodbye yet. i'm eagerly waiting to read the last volume (and the multiple bonus stories in the collection that'll be released on november 19th as well)!

vol 15 spoilers (?)

i'm thinking about seigi and richard being fiancés.

thinking about them waking up in the morning in the same bed while the sunlight coming in through the windows makes their rings gleam. thinking about seigi giggling as richard sleepily wraps his arms around seigi's waist in the morning as he makes sandwiches, clinging to him like a koala.

thinking about them walking down streets on trips abroad while holding hands. thinking about them taking selfies where one kisses the other on the cheek and they're both giddy with joy. thinking about those selfies being their phone lock screens. thinking about them trying out the world's best desserts at different places.

seigi now being able to taste how sweet richard's lips are after he's had a sugary treat.

thinking about them grinning shyly when their frequent customers congratulate them on their upcoming marriage, commenting on the matching work rings they bought at a shop where they were once mistaken to be a couple, but are one for real this time.

thinking about them busy with wedding planning and doing a ton of research, and richard helping seigi unwind after he's been stressing too hard in secretary mode. kissing him on his ring finger (just like a certain kiss many years ago had made him go insane), his mouth brushing the bicolour sapphire he picked out just for him.

seigi turning red because he's not used to this. he doesn't know how to handle being touched by the most beautiful being in the world. but he wants so much more of it.

and now he has all the time in the world to receive this gorgeous man's affection. as richard's fiancé, he can explore all the depths of this man he's loved forever. the man who'll be his husband. the two of them are going to be bound together forever.

and they can't be happier about it.

nakata seigi and richard ranasinghe de vulpian are going to be husbands. they'll scream it from the rooftops so the whole world knows about their love.

Hello! I’ve read Jeweler Richard up to volume 11, and I was just wondering how you read past that? Are there any unofficial English translations or is everything only in Japanese?

hi!! so sorry it took me so long to get back to you (and you may even know by now) but i read the remaining novels by purchasing the original japanese ebooks on bookwalker japan. there are also translations done by a fan which are uploaded on google docs. i'll link them in the replies!

Hi! I'm a nonbinary lesbian and have been out as such for years now. I was on the server to snoop, and was kicked for arguing that slurs shouldn't be said lmao. I was also gathering screenshots of just... the wild shit going on in there. I was there with a couple friends as well, and we found a few other people doing the same as us. It seems like the majority of people were not there seriously. I am happy to "clear names", so to speak, and can pull up screenshots so that people aren't being blocked for no reason.
