hands on me (3) - walker scobell
walker scobell x fem!reader
requested: no
warnings: flirting, teasing
summary: when two worlds collide on stage, subtle glances aren’t enough anymore. a panel with your cast and the percy jackson crew starts out professional… until a photo op makes the air between you and walker impossible to ignore. hands brush, space disappears, and fans everywhere lose it—all while your friends tease like it’s the most obvious thing in the world.
(part 3)
masterlists | walker scobell masterlist | series masterlist
the stage is set with six chairs in a clean line. no couch. no leaning into each other. just enough space to keep things “professional.”
from left to right: aryan, leah, walker — a small gap — then you, kenzi, shaun.
two casts. two worlds.
the audience cheers as you all walk out. aryan hypes them up immediately, leah waves with that effortless smile, walker adjusts his sleeves like he’s trying not to look for anyone specific.
you walk out with kenzi and shaun, laughing at something shaun whispers. you sit, smoothing your dress, crossing your legs.
for a second -just a second- you glance up.
walker is already looking.
not intense. not dramatic.
just… aware.
you both look away at the exact same time.
the moderator starts with something easy.
“what’s the biggest difference between your sets?”
leah answers first. “ours is very… loud.”
aryan nods. “competitive loud.”
walker shrugs. “mostly them.”
you smile faintly.
on your side, kenzi leans into her mic. “ours is chaotic in a different way.”
“organized chaos,” shaun adds.
“debatable,” you murmur, just loud enough for your mic to catch.
a few laughs ripple through the crowd.
another question.
“who breaks character the most?”
aryan points at leah immediately. “her.”
leah shakes her head. “that’s not true.”
walker grins. “you laugh when you’re not supposed to.”
he glances across the small gap — quick, subtle — like he’s checking something.
you’re already looking forward, pretending not to notice.
on your side, kenzi says your name.
“what? no.”
“you smile during serious scenes,” shaun says.
“that’s called acting.”
“that’s called you getting distracted,” kenzi replies.
you raise a brow. “by what?”
she just smiles and looks straight ahead.
the crowd 'oooohs.'
you refuse to react.
the moderator pivots. “if your casts switched for a day, who would struggle the most?”
aryan says shaun would get lost on their stunt set.
shaun says aryan would complain about wardrobe.
leah says she’d love to try vampirina’s aesthetic.
walker stays quiet for a second.
then, casually: “i think we’d adjust.”
you tilt your head slightly. “confident.”
he shrugs. “prepared.”
it’s small. barely anything.
but the timing is deliberate.
next question.
“do you guys ever watch each other’s shows?”
kenzi nods enthusiastically. “obviously.”
shaun says he keeps up with everything.
leah smiles. “same.”
aryan bumps walker’s shoulder lightly. “yeah, walker?”
walker clears his throat. “yeah. i’ve seen some.”
the moderator looks curious. “any thoughts?”
he pauses.
“it’s good.”
aryan squints at him. “that’s it?”
walker shrugs. “what do you want me to say?”
you’re staring at your hands, but your lips press together slightly like you’re holding back a smile.
the audience catches it.
small reaction. quiet buzz.
another fan question comes in.
“who here is the most competitive?”
“her,” kenzi says immediately, nudging you with her knee.
you exhale softly. “i’m not competitive.”
shaun leans toward his mic. “you absolutely are.”
walker’s voice comes from the other side, calm. “competitive isn’t bad.”
you glance at him this time.
brief.
“depends what you’re competing for,” you reply.
aryan looks between the two of you like he’s watching subtitles appear.
leah presses her lips together to hide her grin.
the moderator laughs lightly. “okay… interesting.”
next question.
“what’s something you admire about the other cast?”
safe question.
easy.
leah compliments your cast’s aesthetic.
kenzi compliments their stunt work.
aryan says he respects your consistency.
then walker’s mic lifts.
he doesn’t look at you.
“i think they’re disciplined.”
simple.
neutral.
but when he says it, his eyes flick over — quick — like he’s checking your reaction.
you nod once. “we try.”
your voice is steady.
your hands are not.
the crowd senses it now.
not loud teasing.
not chaos.
just that thin wire tension.
final question.
“any chance of a future collaboration?”
everyone laughs lightly.
shaun says “never say never.”
aryan says “if schedules align.”
the moderator pushes playfully. “anyone here you’d want to work with specifically?”
silence for half a beat.
not long.
but long enough.
you shift slightly in your chair.
walker adjusts his mic.
you both speak at the same time.
“i mean—”
you stop.
he stops.
small laughter from the audience.
“you go,” he says.
you shake your head. “no, it’s fine.”
another pause.
the moderator smiles like she’s clocked something but won’t say it.
walker finally answers. “i think it’d be cool. that’s all.”
simple.
safe.
but his knee shifts slightly closer to the invisible line between casts.
not touching.
just closer.
the panel wraps.
the moderator thanks everyone, the crowd applauds, and all six of you stand at the same time.
there’s that split second of confusion — where do we stand? who goes where?
aryan immediately moves to walker’s left. leah slips in beside aryan. shaun steps up on your right, kenzi already attaching herself to your other side like she always does.
and somehow-
without anyone announcing it-
walker ends up right next to you.
the photographers in the pit start shouting directions.
“all together!”
“closer!”
“center up!”
you take half a step in.
at the exact same time, walker does too.
and then-
his hand lands on your waist.
not dramatic. not possessive.
just natural. easy. like it makes sense.
the crowd reaction is instant.
a wave of squeals from the front rows. phones lifting higher. someone literally gasps.
you don’t flinch.
you don’t look surprised.
you just slide your arm around his back like it was the most obvious thing in the world.
kenzi, on your other side, bites her lip to stop smiling too hard.
shaun looks straight ahead but you can see his shoulders shaking slightly.
“look at the center!” a photographer yells.
you and walker angle toward the cameras.
his hand stays exactly where it is.
steady.
warm.
not moving.
flash after flash after flash.
“one more!”
he shifts slightly closer so the lineup tightens. the movement is subtle, but it presses you more firmly against his side.
another squeal from the audience.
aryan mutters under his breath, barely audible, “they’re gonna lose it.”
leah nudges him to behave.
“walker! look down!”
he does — and for half a second, he looks at you instead of the camera.
it’s quick.
but it’s there.
your chin tilts up just slightly.
click.
the photographers eat it up.
“okay, silly one!”
aryan throws up a peace sign. kenzi blows a kiss. shaun points randomly at the crowd.
walker’s hand squeezes your waist once — small, instinctive.
you glance at him.
he’s already looking forward again.
professional.
calm.
like he didn’t just cause half the internet to combust.
“solo cast shots!” someone calls.
the formation breaks.
his hand drops immediately.
no lingering.
no dramatic slow release.
just gone.
you step back toward kenzi and shaun like nothing happened.
but the crowd is still buzzing.
people are whispering. laughing. replaying it in their heads in real time.
as you start to walk off stage, kenzi leans into your ear.
“oh my god.”
“what?” you say calmly.
“waist.”
you keep your face neutral. “it was for the photo.”
shaun leans in from your other side. “mhm.”
behind you, aryan says something to walker that makes him shake his head.
you don’t turn around.
but you can feel it again.
that awareness.
that almost-smile energy.
and somewhere in the crowd, a fan definitely just posted:
HE TOUCHED HER WAIST.
and honestly?
they’re not wrong.
nina speaks!
this is part three of the close to me series.
if you didn't notice already, this was kinda rushed.
this one isn't necessarily bad but it's not my best work.
not proof read!!
anyway, thank you so much for reading.
bye, love you all!<33
