AMEN. When people change /like we want them to/ despite the fact that they were awful in the past, we should be able to move on as a community! Holding them accountable is a must, and they will be watched closely, but people shouldn't be punished further for trying to actually change? The Guardians movies are some of the most feminist of the Marvel franchise, which admittedly isn't saying much necessarily, (1/2)

but his art is a far cry from what his twitter presented years ago. There's always room for improvement but like, geez. Get Johnny Depp fucking out of there and keep this guy if you're gonna fire someone. That fucko is unapologetic

for @casthewise​ who prompted: Dean and Cas ice skating when one of them doesn't know how

“Do you want some help?”

Dean looks up, tightening his hold on the railing as his feet slip once again. How the hell does anyone keep their balance on these things? 

Cas gives him a sympathetic smile. “It takes a little practice.”

Dean wants to crawl into a hole and die. This is their first date, it’s way too early for Cas to see him look so pathetic. He’s not sure what he was thinking, saying yes to this idea.

Oh wait, yes he does. It was because Cas’ expression lit up when he talked about skating - apparently he used to practice - and Dean is already a sucker for that smile. There’s only one skating rink in town, and it’s only gonna be open for another couple of weeks before the season is over. 

“Might take a little more than a little for me,” Dean jokes weakly.

He’s not usually the most graceful person but out on the ice, he feels like freaking Bambi. 

“You go on,” he adds, attempting a smile. “At least one of us should be having fun here.”

Cas tilts his head thoughtfully. Then he holds on his hands. “Come on.”

Dean eyes them. “Uh. I don’t think I should let go of the railing.”

“Trust me,” Cas says. “Believe it or not, I know what I’m doing.”

This is a bad idea. Dean has already embarrassed himself enough without falling down on his ass and probably taking Cas down with him. He takes Cas’ hands anyway, staggering a little as he lets go of the railing.

Cas gives him a smile and then he starts skating slowly, going backwards so Dean can face forward. Dean holds on for dear life, knees bent and spread and it’s probably the least dignified he’s ever looked but Cas just gives him an encouraging little nod.

They skate once around the rink like that. Pretty much everyone passes them by, including an embarrassing amount of tiny children as well as a small troupe of preteens who snicker as they pass.

Damn kids.

Half-way through the second round, Dean starts feeling confident enough to straighten his legs. 

“Hey!” Dean says with a grin. “I think I’m getting the hang of this.”

“You’re doing great,” Cas agrees, and somehow he manages to make it sound encouraging and not condescending. 

Feeling emboldened, Dean tries lifting one foot to propel himself forward and promptly slips and falls.

He doesn’t fall far, though, because Cas is ready, grabbing and steadying him against his chest. 

“Careful,” he says. 

This close, Dean can feel Cas’ breath on his face when he speaks. This is like something out of a damn chick flick - which would make Dean the clumsy and plucky heroine. And also this the perfect moment to raise his head just a couple of inches and kiss Cas. 

Cas gasps softly as their lips meet, arms tightening their hold on Dean. It’s just a brief, chaste kiss - there’s kids around, after all - but Dean’s heart is racing when he pulls away.

Cas blinks, looking dazed. They’ve come to a complete stop on the ice, eyes locked on each other and for a moment everything hangs still.

“Well?” Dean prompts eventually, straightening and putting a little bit of a distance between them again. “Shouldn’t we get on with the lesson?”

“Oh.” Cas shakes himself. “Yes, let’s.”

He starts skating again and even though Dean is still as unsteady on his feet as a newborn foal, he feels inordinately pleased with himself. Not even those damn preteens, making obnoxious kissy noises as they pass them again, can ruin his good mood.

He does eventually fall on his ass. A couple of times, even. But Cas is practically beaming by the time they head home and as they say goodbye they kiss again. Overall, it’s worth the humiliation.
