Oh my GOD. I NOTICED THIS TOO. I’m not sure Abel will come into play with saving Dean, though, I think Sam’s parallel...

OH MY GOD, THANK YOU for writing a novel!  This is exactly what I want!  I want to have an intelligent conversation about this!  And I love that you have pulled in biblical references!  I think you have a very valid point, and I really like your thoughts on the concept of Dean being Sam's keeper and Sam pushing him away from that.  

I wonder how much of Dean is actually embracing that aspect because he feels he's broken what's between him and Sam by trying too hard to be Sam's keeper?  That maybe this is giving him a distance, a buffer that lets him not feel the pain of Sam's rejection the way alcohol might have before?  

I also wonder more about Abel's side of the story in SPN canon vs Biblical canon.  We've already seen Cain flip the story on its head.  According to Cain, his brother was the sinner.  Cain actions were almost (PLEASE read almost) Christ-like in that he sacrificed himself so his brother would not become the demon.  In this version of the story, Cain is still his brother's savior, which is what Dean has always tried to be for Sam.  I had the episode saved, but because of cable issues, I've lost it. I'm frustrated, because I really want to go pick apart exactly what it was Cain told Dean.

This time around, Dean, the first son, descends to murder first.  Will the second brother have to rescue him?  We've already seen ample evidence that Sam's self worth is next to nothing this season.  He wishes Dean had let him die.  Would this be his out? I don't know if they will bring Abel into the story as a character or not, but I DO think that whatever his fate was, whatever happened between him and Cain (And do we know that Cain has really given us the true story? How many times have we seen the same story from different perspectives? Sam/Dean, Cas/Dean, Cas/Crowley, Michael/Lucifer, heck even TFW/Eve) is going to be pivotal to whatever happens next.  This isn't the first linking to Cain/Abel we've had with Dean and Sam.  If Dean is taking on the role of Cain, then it's certainly not a stretch that whatever Abel's story is, Sam will be stepping in.  The boys have prevented the apocalypse.  Can they keep history from repeating itself? 

Right now, this really is a thought stream, and I wish I could back up my thoughts with more evidence.  Please feel free to refute or point out any errors, I welcome further discussion!
