Castiel Headcanons

One of his favorite insults is 'assbutt' because he finds it funny the way people react to it.

He's still an angel but he certainly doesn't act like one most of the time. Maybe it's due to being around the Winchesters so much.

He gets along with Dean a lot better than he does Sam, but he's not against spending time with either of them simply to talk. Or sit in the quiet together.

While he's not as active as the other two he is still something of a monster hunter along with them for a while. Not forever, just for a bit.

He knows how alternate timelines or situations can affect either brother depending on what's going on in them.

He's fairly smart. Mostly from watchin and learning. As well as reading from time to time.

Most sins aren't things he thinks about for the most part. There are some he knows a bit more intimately than others due to various situations that arose while traveling.

He does consider both of the Winchesters his friends but Dean much more so. Maybe it's due to how much time they spent together. It's not like he could really say.

As an angel he doesn't really cuss that often but when he does it's not anything too horrible.

Random human-ish Cas headcanons

I did one of these for my version of Jimmy Novak here so I thought I’d do one for my Castiel too (in my fic which takes place s5-s6ish but without the Purgatory deal). At this point in the story, Cas is still cut off like he was in s5 — but his connection to Jimmy’s soul ‘recharges’ him so he doesn’t run out like he did in canon.

He’s taken a few vessels before, but he feels like Jimmy ‘fits’ him best and is the only vessel he’s ever considered to be his own physical form

His attachment to Jimmy as a vessel and as a person is partially because he watched over him for a long time (I wrote a short fic about this concept) and partially because he sees taking him instead of Claire as kind of an act of free will even though he was still freshly brainwashed

After getting cut off from Heaven and losing a lot of his strength, he physically strengthened his vessel to make up for it; the vessel is more muscular than Jimmy was before saying yes to Castiel

He started using the low voice because he thought it was the only way to not hurt Dean’s/other humans’ ears — now he’s just used to it

He’s fascinated by the concept of artificial fruit flavors and the different ways they emulate real fruit using chemicals

When Jimmy gets control back, the muscle memory from Cas stays — e.g. grabbing a knife like he’s going to stab someone even when he’s just going to chop vegetables (this is kind of canon, when Nick showed up he would reflexively snap his fingers when he was mad because Lucifer did that when he wanted to kill someone)

When Jimmy is in control, Cas eventually gets into the habit of wrapping his essence around his heart, it’s like hugging for them

Jimmy eventually gave up on trying to comb his hair

Most other angels think it’s weird that Cas sees his body as his physical form instead of just a way to communicate with humans

how has my fic turned into a music rec list??? like it's important to the plot that I tell yall about songs i like. except it's not my interpretation, it's my interpretation of castiel's interpretation. yep i'm definitely sane.

Anywho, Castiel likes pink floyd you cannot take that away from me.

What if Cas was, or was supposed to be, an archangel at one point, but after so many lobotomies, they revoked his status and wiped his memories of it. And that's why he is still revered by the other angels and they look to him as a leader.
