Wait in one of your tags you said Anna wasn’t replaced by Castiel ? I have heard that stated as fact so many times that I just believed it and believed that was why there were so many romantic tropes left in the story line
Anna was not replaced by Castiel lmao. This is pure fanmade myth making. Julie McNiven had a limited episode contract from day one. Something like four episodes I believe (if someone knows the correct number please do share). She has stated this multiple times.
I’ve actually seen this stated as fact by both Destiel fans and Destiel haters lmao. But no, Castiel didn’t replace Anna. Kripke once again was making it up as he went along once again proving that he never had a five year plan and couldn’t even keep on track for a one year plan lmao. All the romantic tropes you say you saw written in were indeed written in for the characters as they were; not as they should have/could have been.
There’s a fairly old article from 2022 [Link] going around again that claims Aidan recently shot scenes for a video game being developed by Remedy Entertainment, which fans think might be the upcoming Control sequel (now called Control: Resonant), set to release in 2026.
The original article said he “shot scenes for a game… being developed” by Remedy, so while it’s not an official casting announcement, it definitely sparked a lot of speculation about him possibly appearing in the game.
In particular, some fans are speculating that he could be playing Chester Bless, a character already known within the Control universe. There’s no confirmation on this either, but it’s the theory that seems to come up most often in current discussions.
Control: Resonant was revealed at The Game Awards 2025 and is expected to launch in 2026 on PC and consoles. Whether Aidan’s actually in it hasn’t been confirmed yet, but Reddit fans are very excited about the idea [Link]
So following some suspicious rumours that Henry Cavill may be being poached to appear in HOTD Season 2, I thought we should unpack the potential of this speculation.
I want to preface this by noting that Henry has been fancast as a myriad of characters from ASOIAF and its extended lore, but ultimately I always felt that he would've made a great Young Robert Baratheon had HBO ever decided to pursue a spinoff about Robert's Rebellion—which I would love to see adapted to screen but I'm not holding my breath.
Aegon I Targaryen
Some people have theorised that maybe Henry will appear as Aegon I in a flashback sequence during the Conquest. Frankly, I don't see this happening. Season 1—which is arguably mostly exposition based—has already done enough flashbacks and time skips to satisfy the rest of HOTD longitivtiy. Besides, there is already so much going on during the Dance of the Dragons without squeezing Aegon I in there as well. Anything that needed to be said about Aegon I with regards to the characters in HOTD has already been said and we don't need to depict the Conquest to make any parallels.
Another reason I dismiss this is because of The Witcher. If I was a producer of The Witcher and a rival fantasy show wanted to use the same actor (which is completely fine) in a vaguely similar looking role (it's the white wigs, guys), I wouldn't be too impressed. So there's a bit of conflict of interest there—Henry won't be playing a Targaryen anytime soon.
Although... if I did have to pick a Targaryen, Henry's physique much more closely resembles Maegor the Cruel (as per Amok/Roman Papsuev's art).
Cregan Stark
Now I shall make my serious casting prediction; if anyone, Henry has a lot of potential to be cast as Cregan Stark, son and heir of Lord Rickon Stark (played by David Hounslow in Season 1).
I expect Cregan Stark will possibly only appear in one episode (maybe two) next season. And then all they would have to do is drag him back and dust him off for the Hour of the Wolf in the final season of HOTD. This is probably manageable for Henry's presumably busy schedule.
And as per Fire & Blood, Cregan Stark is described as "stern and formidable" and a "fine swordsman" of which Henry will undoubtably be able to pull off.
Ultimately, we also need to consider that despite the character massacre Game of Thrones committed against the Starks, the Starks are still very much the "main house", the "good guys" (if there are any good guys) of ASOIAF. Thus there's going to be a lot of pressure to deliver some form of fanservice when we take a little trip back to Winterfell in HOTD. Therefore, if they cast Henry as Cregan Stark, then the Starks get their A-list draw card just like the Targaryen's got Matt Smith.
TL ; DR: At the end of the day, this is probably all just some hot air.
heya, hope you're well! just wondering if you have any insight / ideas as to who Mitch might be playing as well as Neo with the new casting?
In addition to Zagreus, which he's now played a couple of times, and Neoptolemus, which he's just started, I have been informed he's been rehearsing at least one other new role. However I've gone back to check details and am alas sworn to secrecy, so really probably shouldn't even be saying this much. I definitely have one friend who's going to be EXTREMELY HAPPY when he starts playing this role tho 😘
