90: “Catch me if you can!”

Michael let out a growl as the bird pestering him let out another grating squawk, his tail flickering back in forth in agitation. “Micoo,” it cooed as it ruffled it’s feathers, “why are you ignoring me, Michael?” A finger poking into his side, the other’s presence too close.

“Because you’re annoying, Gavin! That’s why!” He let out, taking a non-clawed swipe at the body next to him. Gavin squawked as his wings took him into the air and out of range of the cat. Michael paced underneath him, eyes never leaving his prey. “Get back down here! You wanted my attention so damn bad, now you have it!” He called up while his claws extended and retracted.

Gavin swooped down low, just out of reach, before going back up again. “Catch me if you can!”

“This isn’t a game, Gav!” Michael said, even though his lips were starting to turn upwards at the antics of the other. The bird flew back down and this time Michael jumped up to try to catch the other, only to have a feather slip out of his grasp as he fell back to the ground.

“Oi! That’s cheating, you mong.”

“So is flying, but you don’t see me calling you a cheater! Get back down here and flee like a man!”

Gavin gaped at him from his position up in the air. “No, Michael! Then I’ll really lose!” Michael huffed in amusement. At least Gavin could admit that much.

He crouched low to the ground, tail posed out to balance him as he patiently waited. If there was one thing he was positive about, it was the fact that Gavin wouldn’t be able to stay up there for long before taunting him once more.

Sure enough, Gavin swooped down again, one of his hands playfully tugging on Michael’s hair, until Michael let out the tension he had been holding in his legs. He pounced into the air and clutched the bird’s back and arm, claws latched on to keep him on. Gavin let out a screech of surprise as they lost their height from the added weight, crashing into the ground in a pile of limbs.

“Gotcha.”
