What do you think a feline elf design would look like? Like an elf race that evolved from felines?

a very fun idea! to start, i know this is different, but i have a post on anthro lion anatomy which may be a helpful start for the general body plan and some skull anatomy in various felines.

I don't know if you're looking at any specific felilne ancestry, but for the sake of simplicity I'm going with a cougar for visual reference, since their skull shape is easy to adapt. Also because i just like them.

They're a lot more arboreal than some other big cats (and they're actually closer related to cheetahs than the "true" big cats. Which means they cannot roar and they can meow)

you may have already seen it, but I did answer the question about humanoid hands with retractable claws, it's over here.

to start, just some studies of cougar anatomy

the other reason I'm picking a cougar as a good example for cat elves is because they're really good at climbing and have a pretty arboreal lifestyle, which fits some common tropes for elves. So now here are my sketches for how you might adapt this anatomy to make some elves.

Eyebrow whiskers are fun. I encourage the use of any facial whiskers in fantasy people design, even though I don't put them in all of mine lol.

You can go more cat-like or more humanoid. Keep the digitigrade feet or flatten them. I'm leaving the neck bones further back like that so they can shift between a bipedal and quadrupedal stance, which will help them retain the ability to climb directly down a tree as shown in the previous images of real cougars. so here's a final design concept.

this was a fun one, I hope that's all helpful! Of course, you do not have to use cougars as your base, this was just my choice. More fur would also allow for fun things like dyed fur patterns to convey things like social status, if you want a little extra culture flair. Feline elves would be obligate carnivores, most likely, and they'd probably stick with an ambush hunting technique.

My June of elves continues with this piece I made of my cat-elf librarian Mizane having a day off from work as the head librarian and basically the sole worker of the Sudensurman solan sivukirjasto. He got so excited to have a stroll around the city with his new friend Severan (whose first meeting of Mizane is depicted in that other Mizane piece from a few years ago xD) he put on his best gear to show around town. And of course he gets distracted by books : D I would love to make a real comic about these lovely cat-elves, but when will I have the time… Also there was a Mizane fan visiting our table at Hypecon! If you see this let me thank you again! It just really made my whole year to learn that someone out there remembers Mizane from the previous pieces I have done! Thank you ;;0;;

- They go from dressing flowing, sometimes even semi sheer garments, to just wearing a tank top and several pretty accessories ( for merfolk residents of Alfheim )

- SCREAMING OCEAN CORE AESTHETICS, Y'ALL

. Pleasure Elves :

- Dress regularly like it's some masquerade party on the reg

- Colorful masks are VERY POPULAR amongst the pleasures

- Has several inspos from Medieval/Renaissance Italian and Spanish fashions, Byzantine fashions and also Nordic fashions

- Also generally VERY COLORFUL STYLES, and also BOLD MAKEUP IS VERY POPULAR FOR THEM

- Oh and also TEMPORARY DYED HAIR AND HAIR HIGHLIGHTS

. Air Elves :

- Regularly dress like smth akin to the Fast Flying Fairies in Pixie Hollow, and Medieval/Renaissance European tinker related style fashions

- Breezy and practical fashions are generally popular amongst the Air Elves

- Wind related accessories and cloth patterns

- BRAIDS AND WAR PAINTS ON THE REG

. Spice Elves :

- Their style of dress is similar to those of the Nomadic Tribes in Olden North Africa and the Arabian Pennisula, wirh several nods from Ottoman Fashions and Medieval Middle Eastern fashions

- Literally spice, sand and fire related elements in their fashions on the reg

- GOLD ACCESSORIES ARE VERY POPULAR

- Also beautiful tattoos and cool ass makeup

. Ice Elves :

- Their style of dress is similar to those of rhe Sami People, Eskimos, Ancient Nordics and Ancient Slavic peoples

- FUR AND HOODIE CLOAKS ARE POPULAR IN THE ICE ELVES

- GORGEOUS FACE MARKS ANS ALSO EARRINGS

- BRAIDS

. Elves on the North Pole :

- Literally dress in Yuletide related elements in their styles on the reg

- COLORFUL elements, snowflake and candy related accessories

- Their styles has several nods to the Nutcracker costumes, and Christmas Elves one may hear about in Yuletide legends

- COLORFUL hats and masks, and stylish shoes

. Moon Elves :

- Literally dress smth akin to the mystical priests and priestesses in Pre Medieval and Medieval Era Europe

- Flowing robes, Hoodie cloaks, gorgeous face markings, braids all that

- Their styles has several nods to Nordic Volva styles, Ancient Nordic, Ancient Celtic and Ancient Slavic styles

- Veils and Shawls are very popular amongst the Moon Elves too

. Cat Elves :

- Literally dress in styles akin to the Animal Fairies in Pixie Hollow and also mountainous nomadic peoples in Nordic, South Asian, Slavic, Balkan and Middle Eastern peoples on the reg

- Their styles has several nods to the mountain nomadic peoples in the Nordic mountainous, Himalayas, Persian Mountains, and Balkan mountain regions

- Fur, boots and leather are popular amongst the cat Elves

- Braids ( YES THE LIGHT FAE IN THE NINE REALMS LOVE THEM THEIR BRAIDS ), paint markings and mountain nomadic related accessories

 This was done back in August 2016, but I can reveal it to you all only now. I really went all the way with the cats; then again now that I doodle Liehu and his army of familiars on a regular basis, I don’t think the amount of cats is really out of place in my blog... Sparkly boy Liehu with his trusty lynx Kille, whom I doodled while roleplaying Shiranui (the spes elf pirate), but our session consisted mostly of a huge space battle. I suck at drawing space ships so you get a Liehu instead.

I have to say, tho, Shira and his squad tore through those clumsy monkeigh fighters like a brightlance through some hot butter. Glory to Khaine!
