Before I leave completely I want to ask your opinion on my hc for Sephiroth -> do you think he has the ability to change his gender? And do you think if he really really wanted to he could turn into a cat or grow cat ears and a tail? -🗝

ok let's do the simpler one first. about sephiroth's ability to turn into a cat or grow cat ears and a tail: i think that post-jenova sephiroth absolutely can shift shape, and i believe he could do that in whatever way he wants, so there is no reason he couldn't turn into a cat or grow cat ears. my cat sephiroth crack headcanon is based on him turning into a cat to spy on cloud, and then either getting stuck that way by accident, or realizing he really likes being cloud's cat and sort of just...staying that way. till he gets caught and hilarity ensues.

about sephiroth's ability to change his gender. i think that the concept of gender is extremely complex and has shades and hues, rather than discrete intervals. my personal headcanon for sephiroth is that, while he displays masculine secondary sex characteristics (height, musculature, deep voice, penis and testes, etc.), he is more of a chromosomal chimera, meaning he has both XX and XY throughout his body (that is a real genetic condition which is extremely interesting if you desire to look into it). also, he has some serious jenova fuckery in there.

so let's say purely for the sake of funsies that his chromosomes look like XX, XY, JJ, JX, JY, and so forth. jenova does not have a human gender, and human chromosomals pairs have at least one X chromosome. thus my fully unresearched and delusional logic is that he has a lot more X than Y in there, plus a bunch of J. i say all that to say that i don't think sephiroth counts as genetically male, at all. whether he considers himself male, female, genderfluid, nonbinary, intersex, etc, i can't say.

with his jenova shape-shifty powers i think he could certainly change things like his genitalia and other sex organs, but i don't think any of those things would make him inherently any more or less male or female.

the most important thing to remember about sephiroth when considering such questions is, and i cannot stress this enough, how very very hot he is
