here's my headcanon that Vee loves bumping her head to silently greet someone like a cat. She obviously only does it to people really close to her (Shelly gets 50 trillion head bumps every morning). This way she shows affection or wordlessly seeks attention from her victims. She will never admit it but her number one objective when doing this is to get pats between her antennas cuz she's a touch starved queen lmao. (ignore how inconsistent i draw shelly i still haven't figured out what to do with her design so now she gets lil claw hands 😌)
Shout out to my friend's cat for inspiring this headcanon cuz he would always meow and bump his head at my legs to greet me when i went there oughhh here's a pic of him

"Alright Vee, let's see if this helps at all." Shanon stated as she set down a massive box beside the couch, one with a closed top, rounded opening in the middle of the front side and blankets stuffed inside. It was a perfect cat hideout, a little dark area for when things got to be too much, a safe space. Vee hesitated at it, antennae down, tail tucked, body shaking. She scratched at one of the newly replaced bandages on her arm, anxious and scared, but Shanon just sat beside the box gently, patting the inside.
"I put some blankets in there, I found out that Veri had a similar box for you at Gardenview so- I thought maybe having a little safe space for yourself here too would, maybe, make things a little less- intimidating?" Shanon attempted to explain, getting a soft huff from the cat-like robot as she finally approached the box, and soon slipped right in. She went and curled right up inside, peeping out of the entrance, eyes half lidded and a blank expression on her face. Shanon looked really pleased, clapping her hands as quietly as she could at the sight of Vee finally calming down for once.
"Oh my goodness, it worked, yay! I'm so happy for you!!"
"Why?" Vee asked, slowly emerging from her box again.
"Why would you be happy that I have something you don't have?" She questioned, soon sitting in front of Shanon, looking as confused as could be. Shanon just giggled a little.
"I do, actually. I have my bedroom, it's my favorite place to go when I just, need a break from everything. I have my house, which is what we're in, obviously- uhm, this place also feels really safe, especially with Sam living just down the road from us. My backyard is also really comfortable, just- I have a lot of places I feel safe in, and after the incident, you didn't. You lost yours and... I'm happy I can bring one back, and... Maybe we can make more together sometime so the entire house feels safe to you too, and not just me." Shanon explained, watching as the robot turned and went right back into her box and curled right up in her seemingly favorite spot, peering at her from the entrance as she let out a heavy yawn. Shanon just smiled, waving at her a little, knowing that the yawning was her finally releasing all the tension she's held inside for years. She finally felt safe again, and Vee soon was purring and resting in her safe little space, content with the fact she finally had a spot to herself once again. Well, herself and Shelly, but Shelly didn't join her. Shelly just sat beside it silently, watching over her girlfriend for a while, then just went to work on a new plush she was making, a rainbow velociraptor. She understood the importance of the robot having her own space, how special this was, how much it meant to her. However, Shanon didn't fully grasp it, as when it was time for dinner, she had come over to make sure the two knew. By then, Vee was up, but still hiding out in there, giving anyone who walked past a death stare, Shelly was curled up right beside her in the box and fast asleep, Vee's mic cuddled in her hands, looking as peaceful as could be. Usually Shanon just let her sleep, but she kinda needed to eat, so she had knealt down in front of the box and waved at Vee.
"Hey, mind if you wake up Shelly for me? She needs to eat-"
"No." Vee cut her off flatly, obviously annoyed. Shanon sighed and started to reach in, but Vee immediately hissed and swatted at her, making Shanon back off immediately.
"Vee, I'm sorry baby, but Shelly isn't going to feel well unless she eats, she has to get up for dinner honey." Shanon gently explained, attempting again, but Vee just bit her. Shanon sighed, moving her hand away again, watching Vee closely now. The robot was absolutely pissed, antennae back, hissing at her like a pissed off cat. Shelly was still fast asleep, blissfully unaware of the war that was happening beside her, though Vee soon did slip her tail out from her hands just to whack Shanon with it, who winced hard at the smack on the hands.
"Vee, please, we don't have to fight, I just really need Shelly to get up and-"
"I'm up... I'm up... Come on Vee..." Shelly mumbled as she slowly came out of hiding, and Vee quickly followed her, clinging to her arm like it was going to save her life.
"Also, could you stop attacking mom for waking me up for meals? I'd appreciate that."
"I'll... I'll work on it, no promises Shells."
"Thank you, I appreciate you protecting me, I just need to eat too ya know?"
"I know, I'm sorry, are you okay?"
"Never been better!"
Shanon chuckled at the two's conversation as she watched them walk off to eat, then she sighed and looked at her hands. Instead of seeing the usual cuts that needed bandaged however- Vee left no marks that time, no signs they even battled it out over waking Shelly up that day. Shanon blinked as she stared, in absolute disbelief. Though she soon smiled and chuckled, putting her scarred hands back on her lap. Maybe Vee didn't hate her as much as she thought after all... Or she just took it easy for Shelly's sake, that was a possibility too. But it felt better to think that their one sided war was starting to end... Especially since Shanon never wanted to fight with Vee, but she'd never know. She ended up just getting up and joining the two for dinner quietly, listening in to their usual nonsensical conversations as she ate her own dinner quietly. It wasn't peaceful, but it sure was a great time. And Shanon loved it, even if the two would never know she always secretly listened to them instead of mindlessly scrolling on her phone like they thought she did.
Ooh I kinda wanna know, would Vee stare at Shelly with the biggest eyes cause of how I love she is? I'm unsure of the word, I think it's dilated eyes? Anyways, since I see Vee as a cat I can imagine she just looks like how puss in boots would do that stare of his except towards Shelly :] hopefully I'm making sense, sorry if I didn't!
(was gonna draw it but I completely forgot raahh!)
VEE WOULD STARE AT HER WITH THE BIGGEST EYES EVER
Just if they're alone if it's back at Gardenview, she's good at pretending to be indifferent when she's around others and Shelly but if it's just Shelly- it's huge eyes and little cat like smile as she stares at her. Like OwO if it was an actual facial expression, tail swaying, antenna raised happily. She's a lovesick fool, absolutely, it's quite adorable.
Or she'll be like -w- and purring up a storm as she's snuggled up against Shelly's side, vibrating as she purrs like a car engine. Shelly finds it extremely funny, honestly XD
She also slow blinks respectfully at Shelly quite often, even around others. She uses the most subtle of clues to show her appreciation for that fossil, and while most people would miss it, Shelly sees it all. And she absolutely loves it every single time Vee comes up with a new way to silently say I love you.
At Shanon's house in my au though, yeah Vee's extremely obvious there, clinging to her and staring at her constantly, there's not many times when Shelly wants to be alone and Vee is always right there with her, staring at her with her massive eyes and listening to every single thing Shelly says. Shelly stares at her with her huge eyes too, tail wagging, blissful looking. They're the happiest lesbians ever, and it's really obvious if you see them together in private like that.
In public though Vee still pretends to be indifferent, until someone else is gay around them, then she's screaming "I LOVE MY WIFE" at every turn and showing Shelly off like a trophy with her big ole eyes.
Can you tell I love thinking about them when I'm calm enough to have a solid thought?
♡ Veronica had a bad day and just wanted to give her murderous robot daughter some love... And ended up with a giant cat purring like a boat engine. Totally normal robot behavior going on over there- 😂 ♡

Veronica was just sitting on the couch after a very long and painful day of work, exhausted and just slowly sipping her tea as Shanon handled dinner in the kitchen. Vee was beside her, staring out the window, hand on her forehead like she had a migraine despite looking as peaceful as could be. Shelly was curled up on the floor in her pile, taking a nap after playing in the pool all day again. Veronica took another long sip of her tea, Vee let out a content sigh.
Then...
"I miss when you would comfort me after a hard day of work." Veronica blurted out, not even thinking, just... Speaking. Vee's antennae twitched slightly, her screen turning towards her mom, her tail flicking itself off the couch. It didn't hit the floor, it slammed safely onto a pillow. It was fine.
"What─?"
"You used to curl up and let me stroke you gently like a cat, you'd purr so loudly it sounded like a car engine. I'd always tease you about it... You always fell asleep... You... You'd... Always... Fall right asleep and shiver like a little Chihuahua..." Veronica sniffed as she rubbed her eyes, getting intensely emotional while thinking about this. Vee tilted her head, concerned.
"Momma..."
"It always made me feel so... So loved... When I thought everyone hated me... Because I'd never talk..."
"Momma-"
"I'd sit in that spot every day just so you'd come over-"
Vee gently stopped her with a hand to her mouth, and Veronica didn't care. She didn't even look at Vee anymore, she couldn't, not with her crying like a big baby over a bad day and some sweet memories. She just hid her eyes with her arm and kept crying, unable to stop herself. Though, what Vee did was pretty unexpected- she slowly laid down and slowly managed to loaf yet again, putting her monitor and part of her upper body on Veronica's lap. Sure she was much larger than she used to be- her joints didn't work as well either, her body constantly ached now too, but Vee managed to make it work. Veronica was stunned, especially when she calmed down enough to pet her like she used to- and Vee immediately was shivering comfortably and purring like she used to. Except it was much louder, glitcher and deeper, just like Vee's voice was. Though, it felt the same to Veronica, the same feeling she got whenever she'd be able to finally pet the robot after a hard day, the feeling of pure bliss and comfort she got whenever she was able to silently reassure both of them that it was okay to have bad days as long as they had each other. Veronica laughed a small, wet, sad laugh as she went right back to petting her, laughing even more when Vee let out a massive sigh of comfort as her body relaxed under her hand.
"Oh my god... You really haven't changed... Look at you, falling asleep again, purring, loafing- Oh, Vee." Veronica whispered as she watched the robot, who was soon fast asleep like this, and soon flopped on her side and sleeping like the world's most laziest cat would- as she was still in loaf position, just sideways. Veronica soon was laughing hysterically at the sight of the napping cat toon, rubbing the robot's belly like she would to a dog, feeling her vibrate intensely as she purred like an engine again. Sure she was massive now, but she definitely was still Vee, and Veronica still absolutely loved her to hell and back. Shanon, obviously hearing the engine like sounds and the hysterical laughing, slowly peered out of the kitchen at them. She snuck back into the kitchen soon afterwards, just to sneak out again with her old Polaroid camera and sneak in front of them. Then, while Veronica was still not paying attention to her, she grinned mischievously.
"Smile Veri!"
Before Veronica could even look over at her, Shanon took a picture, then ran off giggling like she pulled the best prank ever. Veronica just laughed even harder now, knowing very well that she was just caught laughing at her dumbass daughter for being the same stupid cat robot she used to be as a small toon. Vee- she was out cold, now fully on her back, sleeping like a spoiled puppy with her arms tucked against her chest and one leg up on the back of the couch, the other lazily tossed off said couch and resting on a pillow on the floor, right next to her tail. She looked so at ease though, sleeping like she wasn't purring like a boat engine and being belly rubbed like a dog. Veronica was still laughing, but she had calmed down a bit, giving Vee her beloved pets and affection with one hand while now giving her gentle scratches on the top of the head with the other. Her tea now rested on the coffee table, not forgotten, but definitely abandoned in favor of spoiling the robot. Shelly, being the rock she was, didn't even flinch at the loud noise directly behind her, just kept on snoozing peacefully, worn out from being a pool menace all day. Shanon just chuckled as she put up the picture of her beloved wife and the very spoiled robot they both loved dearly on the fridge, sighing afterwards. It caught Vee side loafing, her screen hidden in Veronica's black dress pants, her antennae drooping off the side of the couch from how long they were now. Veronica had her eyes closed, mouth open in a huge smile, caught mid laugh, still having tears on her face from her slight breakdown. It was chaotic, but it was definitely a great example of how loving their odd family was. And Shanon loved that, even if she knew she probably was going to be killed for taking such an embarrassing picture of Vee once the robot found out about it.
