Danny is the son of BatCat au where when he fell out of the portal that day as Phantom he had cat ears and tail, effectively making him a cat boy. Worse still is that with the emergence of his cat traits he inherited his mothers love for shiny things and thievery.
The ears work just like a normal cat and he's had to Google a lot of cat related stuff and even treat his ears with cat medicine a few times. His human form also has them but he can will them away if he focuses hard enough. He loves letting his ears out cause having them "hidden" feels like he's wearing clothes that are a size too small. Not dangerous but definitely uncomfortable over long periods of time.
The GIW screw up one day and the portals to his home world collapse in on themselves while he's in the gz leaving him stranded there. He eventually travels to a new dimension to find human resources cause...you know. Food.
This starts his debut in the dcu and the bat kids + kon are very amused by the appearance on a cat boy superhero in some no name city.
Phantom is shocked about how loved he is in this new city. They even keep giving him food and gifts! All he's doing is stopping weirdos with superpowers and traffic accidents. Back in Amity ha head saved the world a few times and the city hundreds and could count on one hand how many times someone thanked him.
