(Catching Clouds)
Reddit is toxic.
And i’m saying that as a daily Reddit user.
Day in, day out, I use Reddit probably more than any other site. It’s funny, it’s interesting, it’s just a great site to browse. But it’s just that. A great site to browse.
I uploaded a still to Reddit from the short film I’m working on, ‘Catching Clouds’. Almost immediately?
‘Looks shit’ ‘amateur’ ‘awful’.
It was a raw, ungraded shot, so sure it wasn’t going to look amazing, but come on. That’s not constructive criticism, that’s just acting like an asshole.
I’ve since taken down the post. I can take constructive criticism, but this just isn’t worth it.
I don’t need the validation of Reddit to make myself confident that I can be a writer, that I can be a director, that I can make it in the industry that I’ve wanted to work in my entire life.
If I never post to Reddit again, whatever. I’ve got the best cast, the best crew and most supportive friends and family I could ask for. If they believe in me-
I can do it.
