I loved your introductory post. I was diagnosed with an LD as well as High functioning autsim, in elementary school. I have terrible working memory, alongside extremely slow processing speed as well as visual spacial awareness which effects math.. I got to see my scores done a year ago,at my university. Turns out my strengths are extremely high verbal comprehension scores and above average reading comp, although this doesn't extend to my spelling or grammar.. Just wanted to give an intro. :)
awesome thank you! welcome to the blog! its cool that we have some of the same learning strengths and problems. I dont know a lot of people in real life who even know what working memory is.
Have you done research on splinter skills in general? I would like to have someone to discuss this with that is if you feel like you have knowledge of the topic? Specifically what is the line between /talented/ and /splinter/ in relation to savant skills? Thanks.
I have a general understanding of what splinter skills are, but havent actually interacted with people who have it. a large majority of the population in my high school were on the spectrum but even when they had an area of expertise or extreme interest they had a wider view of it. most of my knowledge about autism and skills has more to do with experience and general knowledge than in depth research. im not sure if thats helpful to what you want to talk about?
( tumblr isnt letting me answer privately I apologize )
