Beautiful Waterfall in the Catlins, South Island, New Zealand

First light by Ian@NZFlickr at Nugget Point Lighthouse 83 km south of our home. It is a 900 m walk from the car park in freezing winds but I think worth it for the 2 minute burst of light before the clouds swallowed the sun. The lighthouse was built about 1870 just after my great-grandparents arrived in NZ having sailed from Melbourne probably past these dangerous rocks. I am grateful for a careful captain! PS there is a higher viewpoint behind me but you have to scramble up a cliff on lose rocks past a sign warning of injury or death if you pass the sign. https://flic.kr/p/2jGUpaP

Sunrise, sunrise, looks like morning in your eyes 🌅🧜‍♀️ I'm kicking off photos from our South Coast of New Zealand trip with one of my favorites from our Curio Bay sunrise shoot. This other side of this rocky beach is famous for yellow eyed penguin sightings and while not a penguin was seen, the campers along the cliffs got a pretty unique wild mermaid sighting (we had a few confused looking spectators) 💚 . . . . . . .
