as another pinoy bg3 player I absolutely would love if you would elaborate on Filipino beamed shadowheart bc I hadn't even Considered it until I saw ur post.. to me she is soooo western diaspora coded and now I can't stop thinking abt it
OMG fjdksksjs tbh it was just a passing thought from a post i saw on twitter
my thoughts on her as a filipino is more focused on the religious aspect of shadowheart's character than anything else ^_^
here's the post that prompted this for context
to preface, iglesia ni cristo is an independent christian church founded in the philippines. their culture is very cultlike, imo, from what I've heard of friends who grew up indoctrinated in it. they cut off ties with members who aren't following their rules, and if you're expelled that means you're also cut off from your family and community.
the whole expulsion thing is reminiscent of how viconia and the other sharrans say they're family but then they quickly discard shadowheart the moment she turned against shar. getting cut off from your community, the only family and life you've ever known, is devastating. and it's exactly the point so it's harder to voluntarily leave.
honestly any modern day cult would fit in with what shadowheart was a part of. i just like to hit random characters with the filipino beam :)
