Long rant:

I promise I'm trying is like when everyone is expecting too much from you and you're trying your best but can't do it. You're trying to convince them you're trying your best but they expect more from you and now you feel bad but you have that one friend who actually cares.

Trying sounds like he's comforting a friend or partner who thinks like the first one. He's trying to tell them to calm down and he doesn't expect them to do any more than they can because he understands what it's like to be pressured with high expectations.

Sometimes I like to think he's comforting his past self with the newer cover. I like it and it's just so perfect. It's also the same way with dysphoric and how he made a cover of that a while ago. If you don't know about that, search dysphoric cavetown on tiktok.

I just really like how he covers his older songs, it's such an "it will get better" vibe.
